"A Passion for Golf: The Best of Golf Writing"
Edited by Schuyler Bishop
I usually like anthologies, but this one starts out dull and never improves. A lot of big names (Thomas Boswell, Alistair Cooke, Bobby Jones, Francis Ouimet, Arnold Palmer, Harvey Penick, Gene Sarazen, etc.) contributed pieces, but the vast majority of them suck six ways from Sunday. The editor reveals some things about himself in one of his own chapters that I believe go a long way to explaining why the book is so bad, but I'll keep those judgments to myself since they could be termed politically incorrect.
Glad I only paid $3.99 at a used book store.
