Keep stand bag standing all winter or lay it down?

I'm a little late into the offseason to ask this question, but I guess better late than never... Us walkers know all about the problems that some stand bags have where the legs hang down fairly loosely while you carry the bag. This is very annoying because the legs can get caught up in your pants and trip you up a bit. I've had my clubs in my bag and my bag standing all winter. Does anyone know if this is hard on the bag. Specifically, could this extended time standing promote loosening of the retraction of the legs. Should I lay the bag down during the offseason or long layoffs? Just curious.

I would just check the legs to see if they are bent or not.  I have had a Wilson bag in this position for a while with no issue.

Thanks for the response, boogie, and I'm glad you haven't seen any issues either.  I don't know what mechanisms are used to retract the legs on these bags (I have a Callaway bag) and just wondered if the force of the retraction could be compromised by extended usage of the legs out.  Unless anyone on the forum reports otherwise, it sounds like it's just fine to leave it standing all winter...

I always keep it standing and have never noticed any weakness in the bag's legs.  Zippers and other stuff usually go before the legs.

I struggle to keep my house plants alive...  Now you're saying that I am also responsible for keeping my golf bag alive!?!  Now I feel a sense of responsibility....
