anyone think the traction 85 stiff shafts is more like a regular

I was fired with a stiff on my Cleveland 588 mt irons. I finally got them in and the shafts feel a little whippy may just be me or the fact that it was the 3 iron. Just wondering if anyone else had the same thoughts or knew something about the flex rating in the stiff.

These are 85g?  That's extremely light for stiff flex unless they are graphite (than it is normal).  My stiff flex steel shafts are 109g.

im not sure all I know is that they say traction 85 stiff flex which is what the fitter said I needed with my 7 iron swing speed and carry distance. 85g is super light though

As I mentioned in the other thread pull of a grip and look at the butt end. I ordered TT's and a few Altitude's s-flex and my shafts are tagged CG16 100g despite being banded TR85. Well they were I have KBS in there now.

yeah I read that one too. Did your shafts seem a little whippy even with the tt lights in there. before the kbs shafts

I dumped the mid-heavy stiff shafts about 2009 and went to regular.

I'm noticing, however, that on the lightweight steel shafts I can handle a stiff quite well on some models.

I'm finding a crossover point for shaft weight and flex. The Traction85 gram shafts - even in stiff - just feel too light; it's hard to tell when I'm at the top. It has a mid-kick point - medium launch - but I don't know the tip info.

For a time Cleveland used a TRAction shaft in its wedges: a Wedgeflex with a more flexible tip for extra spin, and a stiffer butt for a little lower launch. (Similar dynamics to the Spinner Flex - but TRAction has no shaft joint below the grip.).

You can order the MT, TT, and Altitude irons with an NS Pro 950 that weighs 95 grams in R and 98 grams in S. (Don't know if NS is an upcharge).
