Well I have been hearing all kinds of great things about Callaway's Apex, and Apex Pro irons.

I went to Golf Galaxy to demo them. Holy motha batman! They both felt like butter. Really good feeling, solid, and good looking clubs. I couldn't really tell a difference in feeling between them on center hits. But the regular Apex were a bit more forgiving on mishits (my miss is usually on the toe). And I was hitting them an average of 10 yards longer than my AP2 712s.

Look, I'm big Titleist guy, and have Titleist clubs for the last 15 years or so. My AP2s were great when hit in the sweet spot, but mishits felt pretty bad, specially on the toe.

So I ended up selling my AP2 712s, and I just custom ordered a set of Apex 4-PW with Project X 5.5 shafts. No upcharge for custom shafts! Titleist charged me $110 for custom shafts.

I should have them in a couple of weeks, and I'll update this thread after I receive them and play them on the course.

I hit the Apex at Golfsmith a few weeks ago. I'd never hit a forged iron before, and I agree that it feels amazing. It may be purely that that's how forged irons feel, but having hit the X2 Hots and the Apex in the same session, even though the 6 iron of the X2 went about 8 yards further for me, I would have gone for the Apex set any day. A dream to hit. Congrats on the purchase; I'm very jealous!

I'm in the middle of writing a review of the Apex irons that should be up in a few weeks. Someone else might be doing the Apex Pros. I like the feel a lot, distance is pretty nice too. Stock shafts are kinda iffy.

Ya I didn't like the stock shafts either, the True Temper XP95s. I: had the Project X 5.5s in my AP2s and really like those, so thats why I made the custom order.

When I placed the order, it said they would ship in 3-5 days. Then I got email from Callaway saying they were backorder and won't ship until 4/30. I was really mad, I'm like WTF? I have a tournament in 3 weeks, and I just sold my AP2s. No clubs for 3 weeks is not good.

So I called Callaway to find out what the problem was. Apparantly the grips I selected were out of stock. So I just selected another grip.

Crisis averted wheewee! They are shipping out today, so I'll have them sometime next week. Can't wait to go play them.

Good move - they would be soooo much better with PX shafts.

I currently play with the APEX Pros and they are definitely a very solid iron.  The only thing I have issues with is the difference in iron distance between pw, 9iron, and 8iron.  They seem to be like 15 yard gaps, but its workable. The other issue I have with them is they scratch a little too easy it seems.  I try my best not to scratch them, but I've been playing every single day for the last month and a half prepping for a big qualifier so that might be why they seem worn.  But they definitely have great feel and hit the ball a good distance. I'm very pleased I bought them.

OK my Apex set was delivered the other day, and I went to the range last night with them. Wow these things are incredible, when hit purely they feel great, and I did pick up some distance too, compared to my AP2s.

I like the forgiveness of these also, when hit thin or on the toe, I didn't even lose that much distance. Maybe my swing isn't good enough for the AP2s, but thats why I changed irons.

I have heard the wear problems with the pros, I think its due to the finish they used. But the wear problems have not been reported with the non pros. Must have a different finish on them.

Ordered mine last saturday............this is killing me.  I go back to Golfsmith nearly every day and hit them just to keep the feel fresh in my mind.  They are forgiving and the feel is amazing.  And getting KBS tour c taper shafts for no extra charge is the greatest thing I have ever seen.  Callaway did it right on this set.

Today I tried some titleist mb, tmade your preferred and the apex pros. When I pick up the demo pro the guy at golf town said you'll love that one. Oh boy I was bombing it and it felt great. I would definitely recommend giving them a shot

The lofts on the Apex irons are really strong.

For those who already play them, in your experience does it matter much? Did you have to recalculate the distance of each iron?

Its only the short irons that have stronger lofts. Its no big deal, just recalculate your distances. 8 through PW was an average 7-8 yards longer than my AP2s.

Howdy there neighbor. You are going to love these. I've had mine for a week now, and I can't wait for my next round.

When you finally get them, we should hook up and have a Callaway love fest at some course. LOL

I'm not a big fan off callaway as a brand.

They are fighting to get back in the market they

ones had. They do a pretty good job with these irons.

But i still have to say there is not not a better feel iron

than a Mizuno forged iron.
