Been struggling with the driver for months.  Multiple lessons, practice, etc.  I got fitted for irons last summer (JPX 825) and have loved them but had an RBZ (first gen) driver and didn't think I needed a new one.

After fighting the driver though for months while the rest of my game has slowly improved, I went and got fitted at PGA Superstore (The RBZ was a gift and not fitted for me).  In any case, the RBZ had a stiff shaft and my swing speed hovers high 80's to low 90's so they put me into a Regular shaft on the Callaway.

Long story short, I've only played two rounds with it but I haven't hit my old miss.  I've been straighter and longer to the point that I have to re-assess certain holes on my home course (played tonight and hit two bunkers that are normally out of play for me and sailed one more drive out of bounds while aiming where I used to aim based on my hard fade/slice with the old driver.  The ball just explodes off the club face and has that flight path where it seems to just keep climbing and accelerating through the flight.

I've read a million posts on TST about getting fitted, the importance of the shaft, etc. etc. but I'm still just stunned by the starkness of the difference.  I knew my swing wasn't all bad because I had virtually the same miss 95% of the time off the tee but I just couldn't get it to straighten out and my last 27 holes I've not had a single slicey/fade miss to the right.  I'm actually missing left because I'm hitting so straight I need to re-adjust my targeting.

I literally cannot wait to get out and hit it again.  If I didn't store my clubs at my course I'd probably have it in bed with me tonight.  I know 99% of this game is mental and just stepping up to the tee feeling like I'm going to crush it is a huge boost.

I love this club.  If I wasn't married already I would marry this club.

I agree totally! A lot of people struggle with drivers simply because they have an unsuitable driver for their swing! Me included! The right flex shaft and correct loft can deliver instant results with changing your swing! It's easier to get a driver to suit ya swing, than a swing to suit ya driver!

Congrats on the new club!  That's a great feeling, isn't it!

Yes, for me the X hot 2 is a great driver. I also play the first RBZ and the Cally has less spin thus I can hit it straighter but it just will not go as far.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
