I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years

My current handicap index or average score is: 18, however normally I score in the high 70s

My typical ball flight is: push - draw

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pull

Sorry for the quality of the videos, I only used an Ipad 2 - as that is what I had to hand.

Personally, I believe I get into some nice positions and the plane of my swing seems to be pretty good.  However, what is not very good - is the large amount of lateral head movement and a standing up at the very end of the backswing.  I think this also leads to a loss of spine angle before impact and results in a slightly flippy release.  However I think that is all of a result of the lateral head movement.

I have already read and started working on the maintaining inclination to the ground thread.

All comments appreciated.

Yes the head is moving too much to the right, the "stand up" towards the end of the backswing is because you don't "stretch" enough and it's a move to try and re-center yourself.

So first thing would be to turn both feet out at address to help the hips and shoulders stretch and bend.

So you can look more like the right pic where face and low point control will improve.

More of what I mean by stretch and bend.

@mvmac , just wanted to put another thanks on this thread to you.  I've been working on the set - up with flaring the feet out to stop the swaying and I can honestly say that I've never hit the ball better.  I haven't played that much recently, because I have been in the process of changing clubs.

My contact with the irons are so much more consistent and I have never hit the driver further.  The only issue I have at the moment is that with the driver I am typically hitting straight - draws; unlike the rest of the clubs where I am hitting push - draws.  Any thoughts on why?

Great to hear. In regards to the driver, keep doing the same thing but at set-up push the hips a few inches towards the target, little more "reverse K" set-up and see how that goes.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
