I know $5.99 is nothing but I bet there are several free apps that are just as good. So does anyone have a recommendation for the iPhone of an app that will keep my scores and calculate my handicap? Thanks.

The GHIN mobile app is free, and simple to use for entering your scores.  Of course, you need to have a valid GHIN number through a club or association.  Nothing else is "as good" when it comes to maintaining a handicap index.....

For keeping score, the courses that I play provide a card and pencil......for free.  How cool is that?! ;-)

GolfShot works great. Has every course and calculates an accurate handicap (albeit unofficial, of course). The free version is for scoring, stats and handicap, and the paid version adds GPS.
