I think that's the GS by my house. Bald guy looks like Jason the manager.

Is it weird to say that Bubba is really cool but something about him bothers me?  It bothers me that I'm bothered by him because that was a really kick ass video.  Thanks for posting.

Bubba can be an enigma. I want to root for him - and I love watching the shots he can pull off. I guess it's a combination of a little too much bible-banging, plus the attitude he puts on out on the course once in a while. The things he says to Ted Scott his caddy -- I dunno though - heat of the moment stuff - pretty tame compared to anything you see at any baseball/football/basketball/hockey game. He's on my "plus" list for now. And yes, the Golfsmith video was pretty cool. He's been funny on social media for years now - it can't all be an act.

What would make

Maybe the fact that he has to have it videoed is what bothers you. It's just more self promotion BS.

What would be really cool would be if he just did it without it being a personal advertisement.

Not sure he ever mentioned Ping did he. Don't think I spotted any product placement either in the editing.

On balance I'm warming to Bubba despite some of the reservations that others have picked up on, but the fact that he could even be considered as a character just shows what a paucity of candidates golf has. In fairness though, it's not really a demonstrative high octane sport. It's difficult to cultivate a character out of it

He does mention Ping and to Pink Driver when they are looking for a driver for the contest. But it may not be self promotion as it seems like they are trying to make a joke.

I said self promotion. Not Ping promotion.

Oh dear - I was attempting to be 'dry' given that he clearly mentions Ping about 4 times, starting from the moment he walks in the store and announces he must use a Ping, he also goes out of his way to say "we've sold a driver", whilst mentioning the additional yardage that the Ping generated and ensuring that this was linked to the manufacturer, as well as signing the PoS material of himself with the word Ping emblazoned all over it. He continually names drops Ping throughout and edits the video in such a way that Ping appears in it continually. I'd have said it was so blatant that my slightly sarcastic remark about him not doing so, would have been picked up and seen for what it is. It appears not

I know - my point is that he is still all about Bubba, but pretending to be all coy and down to earth as if it's not an ad. He's a massive phony.

It is his job to be out there and have attention. Where do we draw the line. He sells himself and his clubs to make a living. He has a demeanor that makes it difficult to detect that he is genuine.

Shorty if you have ever seen professional bass anglers over here, they are waaaay worse at shameless self and product promotion.

I agree Ping this, ping that sounds overkill but look at the uproar when Figjam used a TM 3 wood in a European tourney last year. I think it would be normal for him to ask for a ping.

    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
