OMG! On Saturday I jumped on as a single and was paired up with a dad and his 19 year old son. His name was Adam he plays for Colorado Mesa University. He's only been playing golf for 5 years! Since he was 14 years old. This kid was good, I mean really good.
The Heritage Golf course at Westmoor hosts the US Open qualifiers, and has championship tees at 7538 yards slope/rating 74/134. Adam played from the championship tees and made it look easy. He was averaging over 300 yards on drives. He said his swing speed was around 118. Had a fairly quick tempo like Ricky Fowler or Nice Price.
He wasn't even really trying, he was just having fun with a casual round with his dad. Hit lots of fairways, lots of greens. Few birdies, few bogeys, rest were pars.
He shot a 73. This course is very difficult, fast greens around 11-12 on the stimp.
After college he plans on trying to qualify for the Web.com tour and then the PGA Tour. I hope he makes it, very humble, friendly, etc. Didn't want to brag about his game or anything. So I was asking him alot of questions.
I've never played with a plus handicap before, and it was a great experience.
