Right elbow tucked or drop into slot

Thread Starter

This year I was trying something new with my backswing. I started keeping my right elbow away from my body, then dropping it into the slot. It was sort of working, but my misses were always on the toe.

So last night I was at the range trying different things with my swing. I started keeping the elbow tucked on the backswing, and it felt like the club was closer to my neck. BAM! I started hitting these beautiful high draws. I've always been a low ball hitter. I think I finally figured out how to hit it higher. I couldn't miss the center of the clubface!

So what is better for me? Elbow away and drop into slot, or keep right elbow tucked? I don't know but I'm going to keep working on this.

Right elbow near body at the downswing is allegedly a power move e.g. for driver.

Check out some of j.b. holmes's swings on slow-mo on youtube.
