Most embarrassing moments on the course?

What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you on the course. Whether it be something hilariously funny or truly disturbing to those around you, the more unique the better. We all screw up at some point while we are on the course or the range, this thread is a great place to tell your story...and to make the rest of us not feel as bad about our own moments.

First tee shot at Spyglass playing in the Northern Cal amateur. With a decent amount of people watching, I pull my tee shot left into one of those overhanging limbs, ball eventually comes out and lands on the women's tee.

The best part of that is how it lands on the women's tee. I would honestly rather it land in the mulch.

Too many to mention ... I hate nailing a house ... bugs me the whole round ... I will say that the more people watching me hit, increases the embarrassing moment factor by about 10000x ...

I've been playing this game a long time.......I can't remember half the silly things I've done with a golf club in my hand, but here are a couple that come to mind that I'm sure I've mentioned here before:

Fairly recently......

I'm drooling over a nice little 25 foot uphill chip.  The kind you really want to make.  Looking at the cup and just brushing the turf to get a feel for the speed and yep, I accidentally HIT THE DAMN BALL!  Replaced the ball under penalty and promptly proceed to blast it 6 feet past the hole.  Of course I miss the putt coming back.

Birdie thoughts to double bogey reality in about 90 seconds flat.  Good grief.  :8)

Also within the last year or so.....

Second shot on a long par-5.  I bow up on a 3-wood and top the ball so badly that it went 25 feet BACKWARDS!   I'm a 6 freaking handicap and hit the ball BACKWARDS!  Then proceeded to hit another 3-wood, and stuffed a 7-iron to actually par the damn hole.

I got skilz......

Finally, several years ago.....

In a greenside bunker with a PERFECT lie, in nice firm sand.  Completely blew the shot.  Got out of the bunker and in disgust, took a hard swing with my sand wedge at my left shoe to knock the sand off of it.  Missed.  Hit that little bony thingy on the side of my ankle......best contact I made all day.   I screeched like a little girl and went down like I'd been hit with a shovel.

My rat bastard buddies almost passed out laughing so hard.   I've said it before.  I need a better class of golfing buddies!

2nd tournament I've ever played in, member-guest at my buddies' club.   No "crowd" but probably 10-12 random people watching (near a refreshment stand).  Been working toward this tourney for a while, playing with my buddy who is a 2.  We got 3rd the year before.

Shotgun start, par 3, 3rd hole.  For some reason, I had a total brain fart.  I took aim at a the pin, swung, felt solid contact with a 7 iron.  The ball plopped down with a solid thud about 6 feet short and underneath the hole.  I looked at my buddy with a big smile, and saw he was looking at me like I had five heads.

It was the wrong green.  I had hit the wrong way off the teebox to the green of the par 5 2nd hole.  He had been busy and hadn't seen me laser the wrong hole.  We had no idea what to do, rules wise, so I sheepishly picked up my ball.  Luckily he par'd and it was best score of the two counts.

The playing partners we were with that day were still laughing.  One of them said my fist pump after the swing was the funniest part.

Oops. :P

I hit a tree off the tee on a par 3 and it came back almost all the way tee *A few people on this forums were there*. 2nd night of league this year par 4 tee right behind a little pond, I topped the ball and it hit the rocks on the far side of the pond and flew back passed the tee to near the practice area behind us.

Gotta love the blast of gas in the downswing when hitting the driver.

One of my former employees pulled a tee shot into a tree that came back and landed on the tee box. He proceeded to hit is next shot into the same tree and it came back to the rough next to tee box. On his third shot... you guessed it, he hit the same tree again. He picked up his ball and sat the hole out. Poor guy.

In my first ever individual tournament. It's a shotgun start, and we're the first group (of two) to hit from our hole. So there's about 8 people watching my tee shot. The hole has water right after the tee box, but the water is only in play if you top a ball (you can see where this is going). I get up there, all amped up and nervous with my 3 wood ... and top the ball into the water. Oops. Ended up chipping in for double bogey.

Next hole I 4 putted for double bogey from about 20 feet. Yikes. But then I settled down and got an 84 en route to winning the tournament from my flight. So the first two holes were terrible, but I managed to dig myself out of it.

I split my pants crouching down to mark my ball on a green.  It was a huge hole that left my crotch exposed when I crouched and part of my rear exposed when standing.  It happened while playing an annual round with friends from different parts of the country.  We're very close friends and everyone got a kick out of it.  The most embarrassing part was teeing off on 10, as there were a bunch of people around watching.  Its also hard to hit a good tee shot when you're taking an awkward stance so people can't see your butt.

Someone got a good crotch shot of me marking my ball, too.

I hit a ball and had no idea where it had gone. Assuming it was a jungle ball, I bent over to tee up another when it landed about 25 feet in front of the box.

A few years ago when I was visiting Vegas, a buddy of mine and I went to play the Wild Horse golf course in Henderson, NV.

I forget what hole it was, but it was a par 3 hole with a tree about 10 yards in front and right of the tee box with the branch overhanging towards the line I was intending on hitting.

A cart girl pulls up behind us about 20 yards back of the tee box.

I hit the tee shot, and won't you know it, it hits the overhanging branch and ricochets back right next to the cart girl.

My buddy says "you did that on purpose so you can talk to the cart girl!"

I wish I was that good then.

Forgot to set the parking brake on a cart, and the cart starts to go backwards. While it's running backwards, I jumped onto the hood of the cart grabbing the two support beams for the roof of the cart. Just before it picks up more speed, I twirl around into the drivers seat and put the brakes on.

Okay, so the cart going down the hill was avoided. . . well it's not done yet. . .this was a GPS cart, and when it goes "out of bounds" the motor stops working and it puts itself into an electric brake mode. I turned off the cart and started to push it back where the GPS let me drive again. Had to do this a few times. This took another 5 minutes or so, and I finally drive it onto the cart path. I had just about 30 seconds to take my shot as the group behind us teed off.

I could see them laughing at this entire fiasco, while my own group just kind of glared at me. I never met the people in my group before, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to partner with me again.

At my club course, which is difficult for high hcp players the 1st hole was a nightmare. Green was massively uphill slope in my opinion, from the fairway. Distances in meters, so it would be more in terms of yardage.

After several shots around the dogleg par4, I overshoot the green with mid iron shot.

I chip downhill to the green. It rolls off the green to rough...

Then I  slice a chip, from rough to the rough...

Then I chip once more to the green, it rolls off...

Had to pick up the ball - it would just give 0 stableford points anyway...

I was out with our local golf pro who I am good friends with and he was sitting in the cart which was parked in front of me and maybe a foot or two towards my front. Something I do once in a blue moon especially with my wedges is a shank and sure enough I shank the ball right into the back part of his leg. It was a full swing and he was about 5 feet away, left a nice welt but he was laughing pretty hard.

Sounds like a quick save to me.

Alright so last year I was playing a round with my dad at a course that we were new to. It is a wide course with long and empty fairways which my dad seemed to like. There was such a scarcity of trees it was actually pretty remarkable considering the course is in NH. So anyway, my dad hits this very impressive shot off the tee and it somehow finds this awkward tree just sitting in the fairway. The tree went up about two feet and then split into two other large trees. It made a sort of V shape. My dad wanted to take the shot between the two branches as it would be a great chance at the green. I'm standing off to the side to see how it all goes down. My dad take a few practice swings and then steps up to the ball. He loads up his pitching wedge and gives it a swing. All I hear is a loud thud and the ball rockets backwards at least 30 yards behind us. I lost my mind and fell to the ground laughing. My dad was beyond pissed and took his next shot with an 8 iron that, you guess it, bounced off the tree and fell patheticly to the ground. I never laughed so hard in my life.

Topping or blading any sort of shot is very embarrassing for me. I flat out topped a tee shot just today after I played through a foursome. They were standing about 15 yards away on the previous green :8)
