Some people say it's mental, which part of it might be but more than anything else he gets in such a bad position from A4-5 that he has to stop. You can have all the positive thoughts you want but with the head going so far forward, shaft getting super steep, he's got to do something to stop himself from hitting the ground 5 feet behind the ball.

Frankly I'm amazed he still plays at all. Not only must he be endlessly frustrated, but people all over the world know just how much he sucks. And that's despite being one of the best, I don't know, 30 basketball players ever?

Saw an interview with him on the GC, he said he loves to be out on the course, cuz it's quiet. Anyone see the one armed T shot he hit..lol

Crazy how he can take a semi-fluid practice swing, but can't replicate it over the ball. It really never gets old lol

Yeah that is strange, all he would have to do is stand over the ball and do the exact same thing.  He'd still probably hit it bad but at least it would go further than his real swing.

Same here, people basically come out to laugh at him. He takes it really well but jeez how fun can it be when you can't finish a hole?

What was the story I heard, something about how he used to be a pretty good player but he blasted a spectator with a tee shot or something once and since then he's lost it?

Chicken/egg: He gets in a position where it's impossible to hit the ball because he is absolutely scared to death of not being able to hit the ball.

A local radio celebrity played in the pro-am with him last week and he said what amazed him was that every now and then with a short iron Barkley took a fairly normal looking swing and hit the ball just fine.

Does he actually play often though, as in does he ever play apart from in these charity events? Because if these charity events is the only time he plays then good on him.

I don't know what happened to him because he used to be able to play. He was at our club about 15 years ago and I noticed he had a decent swing. His playing partner said that he shot 85.

I would have gone insane.
I don't know what happened to him because he used to be able to play.
When he was on The Haney Project, they had video of some swings of his from the '90s. He wasn't great, but 85 sounds reasonable.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
