Ball Marker

Looking for some idea's on a new ball marker been using a poker chip but is a little big and boring.

What do you use to mark your ball on the green??

A few courses in my area give out those plastic neon tabs so I just use one of those.

I do not care to use those plastic markers with the peg on the bottom.  Sure, they stay put but chances of moving the ball when removing the marker are much higher.   A  shiny dime works well as can easily be seen, fit pocket well and small cost if lost.

Where can we get one of those?

I don't like coins because if someone hits it it'll definitely change the direction of the ball.

Also, I put the ball down, hit, and then remove the marker.

There is no penalty for moving the ball accidentally in the act of marking or replacing the ball.

I have a large variety of ball marking items, poker chips or other logo markers from various courses I've played, coins from many of the countries I've visited, an 18th century silver Taller issued by the Austro-Hungarian empire for Middle East trade.  I use whatever I happen to be in the mood for when I start the round.  I always have 2 in my pocket if I use one of the larger markers so that I can substitute a smaller, less obtrusive one when on or near another player's line.

That's a first for me. Why?

Yeah, I have a few of these in my bag as well as a handful of 2 Rupee coins from the junk drawer. I usually put one of each in my pocket during a round.

I don't have to worry about bumping the ball if I take it out first and it gives me something to do while the rest of the group is lining up their putts, tapping out, etc.

I usually put a few quarters in my pocket to mark my ball and I also have one for the person that never seems to have anything to mark with and another to mark somebody else's ball that's in the way when they aren't up to the green yet (yeah I know, not According To Hoyle but we do it all the time to speed up play).

I used to have some kind of gold looking Italian coin to mark with (seemed pretty lucky for some reason) but I lost it somewhere along the line.

You realize that is against the rules?

No?

If I'm ever in a tournament I'll make an adjustment.

I use a Bicentennial Silver Half dollar,or  Bicentennial Quarter has markers. 1976, a great year in my life.

I prefer the Half dollar as its easy to grab out of my pocket and easy to spot when looking across the cup to the marker to judge the slope.

I use whatever change is in my pocket. Although, just realized a guitar pick would make a cool ball marker.

I have a Jamaican twenty-dollar coin I keep in my wallet for good luck. I started using it as my ball marker just last year and it hasn't given me all that much luck, but it sure does look unique.
