Rough Plans: Saturday/Sunday at Whispering Woods and downtown at Golf Evolution, with players arriving at noon or 1pm on Saturday, and with the round commencing Sunday morning so players can get home Sunday evening.

Dates are Official:

August 16/17, 2014

Who is interested? Subscribe to this thread if you are (and post to say hi).

Rough Schedule (I'll update this as necessary):

Saturday, August 16

12pm to 1pm - Arrivals and Putting Matches at Golf Evolution downtown (5 W. 10th St.)

1pm to 4pm - General Goofing Around*

4pm to 8pm - Whispering Woods Mini Outing (???)

8pm to 10pm - Dinner Somewhere

10pm onward - I'm setting up some hotel room deals. I'll have more details soon.

Sunday, August 17

8am to 9:30am - Breakfast Somewhere

10:10am - 11:xx - Tee Times

3pm - Departure for those leaving

4pm - Return to Golf Evolution for some work**

The mini outing will be something interesting. Maybe a one-club alternate shot format, or a straight up scramble, or something so that y'all can see the golf course. Seeing it once before you play is a good thing. :) And if we scrap it because we're having so much fun downtown, so be it.

* "General Goofing Around" includes:

  • $ AimPoint Express lessons (G)
  • $ FlightScope (Y)
  • $ Full swing instruction (X)
  • $ SAM PuttLab measurements/training (Y)
  • $ Pitching analysis/lessons (G)
  • Table tennis matches
  • Putting competitions ($ if you lose)
  • High speed recording of your swings for your My Swing threads

I've marked with a $ those that will cost money. I've marked with an "X" things you should probably definitely not do. Things marked with a "Y" are individual. G is a group (obviously with some individual attention at various stages).

We'll do all we can to keep costs on these down.

** Some students are staying later on Sunday, or into Monday and even Tuesday or Wednesday for continued lessons with Dave, Mike, and I.

Hotel Plans

(Updated 2014-07-09)

So here's the scoop on the hotel plans.

Reservations must be made by calling the Days Inn, with a valid credit card, at 814-868-8521 , before 7/23/14 . After 7/23/14, any rooms not guaranteed with a valid credit card will be released from this contract.

Please reference The Sand Trap Golf Group when calling the hotel to make reservations.

This is for the Days Inn a few miles from the golf course.

Please find your roommate and book your reservations SOON.

You're no farther away than me driving from North East, PA to Ada, OH. :)

Pre-"Tournament" activities will, unfortunately, probably not include a disc golf tournament. :D

True, but you don't have a woman that hates the fact that you golf!

that would be a deal killer for me ;-)

Heck I might be willing to go pick you up. Carpool over. I did the math, it would save me like 40 bucks on gas (if we split) even driving up to Lima. If @CarlSpackler to wants to carpool as well BIG SAVINGS!!!! :dance:

That would be cool with me, though it's not the gas that she has a problem with, it's the fact that I'll be gone for so long. She just loves me so much she can't stand being apart! :loco:

I'm trying to narrow down the dates today. Looking like August 2/3, 9/10, or 16/17.

BTW: August 16/17 is looking like the best dates. My wife is out of town, so it's guilt-free "hanging out, talking golf, and eating wings."

And… we can expect @mvmac to be in the house!

I'm going to "page" a few people who might want to come…

@cipher

@JetFan1983

@bjfox10

@saevel25

@georgep

@EverythingGolf

@Jeremie Boop

@Slice of Life

@Ernest Jones

(I may add to this list too.)

BTW, if you see anyone on the forum from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Buffalo (or Erie of course), please let them know to visit this thread. Even Detroit, Toledo, Columbus/Akron/Dayton, etc.

Does this mean I'm going to look even worse than last year? Crap, time to start practicing with a purpose and get my stupid monkey badge or something.

I'm honored to be thought of here :-)

Obviously it's a bit of a hike for me, so no promises, but... I'd love to go if I can...

I'll see what happens. Thanks for giving me enough time to think about this.

    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).
