On a funny note, i went to Palos Verdes last weekend and saw a kid on a mountain bike with a gopro mounted on a crash helmet. There are cliffs going down to the beach, and I can only imagine what he was planning. Lucky he had some friends with him. No news reports . . .

Right.  If I can use it for everyday stuff like.. I dunno filming a wedding party or cops assaulting innocent bystanders then I'd be much more open to getting one.  lol..

Its not perfect, but here it is.  I had a week off from work and a bunch of tee times around 5:30/5:40am and was usually the only one out there.  On this day of course, they wanted to pair me with 3 other guys, but I negotiated an early release to get out there on my own.  Anyway, I had to rush the first two shots, to build a little cushion.  Also the picture is sometimes crappy since there are no do-overs and I wasn't really reviewing them after each hole.  Some of the putts where I left my camera in my cart are almost impossible to see.

A couple of thoughts on doing this vlog:

  1. Its not nearly as cumbersome as I expected.  I felt very rushed on the first hole or two but after that it went really smooth and easy.
  2. I think I played better because the camera made me focus on making good swings on every shot.  Knowing you all would see this kept me focused!
  3. I used my phone and a gorilla pod, but since I was riding I had to put the phone on the ground whenever I couldn't get a cart in the right place.  Next time I'd bring a tripod

  4. I didn't have any issues with batter power, but I did have to start trimming my videos on the course and deleted apps to avoid running out of space.  A normal 8GB card isn't quite enough, and I had cleared off all my old pictures and videos.

  5. It's really cool to have a video of my best round!

Thanks!  I've got 1 year old twins at home so if I want to get out there at all I've got to go early.  I can tee off around 5:30 and be home by 8:30am.  happy wife=more golf.

Here is the final nine holes on my morning course.  I don't usually like to play this one as it has some stupid holes and greens.   Excuse my crappy voice and that I am pretty much still sleeping on the first.

I use my phone.  I built my own "stand".  I will try to explain it, but when I go home I will take a pic and post it.

I had a bicycle light that I was not using anymore.  It had four rubber arms with wire inside them?  Either way, the arms were designed to be flexible, but stay where you put them.  I pulled the light part off, and zip-tied it to a golf shaft.  It fits right in my bag.  To setup, I just stick the shaft in the ground, and slip the phone into the rubber arms.  Pretty easy.

Ok.  I finally remembered to take a picture of my "custom" smart phone stand.

Here is my vLog. I think I actually swing worse when filming myself, because I fell back on myself more than a few times in this round when filming myself. In any case I am a bogey golfer, so I suppose that's okay, but I prefer playing when I can't see myself. I play a teeny bit better too.

Next vlog, I will focus on my form more.

My promise is your entertainment.

I don;t know what happened to the resolution. It should have been in 1080p. Maybe it was too large a file.

Nice vlog @Lihu .  I finally got a chance to watch it.  Course looks nice.  It looks like a fun one to play.

Pretty fun.

Believe it or not, it is one of the less expensive courses (9 hole only) we have around here. It does have some pretty nice scenery. The only bad part is the long walk up the hill. The first tee is great, you can really feel like you kill the ball hitting downhill like that. 300 yard drives are not uncommon on that hole.

BTW, is the 1080p working for you? Just wanted to make sure the settings are set correctly.

Not exactly sure what you mean by this?  I assume the video quality?  If so, I thought it was very clear.  On some of the DTL approach shots, I thought I was going to be able to see the ball come down.

Yeah, resolution.
There' s a gear icon that lets you change the resolution. The top one should show 1080p.

Thanks for watching and checking.
