The more I get weight forward, the more open my clubface

I know videos are the best. I'm gonna try and make a video where you guys can see my hands clearly. I'm a lefty. I'm constantly changing my grip, usually very strong. Anytime I focus on getting my weight forward at impact my hands(wrists) seem to open the clubface which was square at address.

3 knuckles showing on right hand, back of left hand to the ground as I place my left hand underneath the shaft so my palms face each other. I'll hit good shots but I feel my hands are not forward of ball at impact. When they are.....face is open and I push or push slice.

Is there a conscious move of the wrists when coming down that squares the clubface?

Make sure you have the hands a little forward at address. Might also need to feel a little "revving the motorcycle" with your right hand. In other words, feeling like the right wrist bows a little on the downswing.

If someone fails to do this, is the likely result a push?

Edit: I'm asking because I periodically hit great shots that are pushes, and I don't have a checklist of "what caused that?" yet. Thinking this might be something to add to that list.

It certainly does for me. I think I sometimes have too much tension in my forearms that results in poor wrist action. I tend to have to play the ball quite forward as my squaring of the clubface occurs so late in the impact zone.

If I play my 7 iron in the middle or even a ball forward of middle...push or slice. If I play the 7i just off my inside heel of forward foot...high and pretty. But I know having the ball that forward makes it unlikely I'm doing any compressing at all.

I wouldn't say that is necessaryily true.

For you it's more of the sequencing of the arms and the pivot. Yes, the lead wrist being cupped will cause some issues, could be pulls, pushes, good chance the balls will cutting.

Are you talking about in general or just for you? For you, playing the ball that far back is a band aid because the lead arm and shaft are lining up prematurely. 7 iron shouldn't be in the middle of the stance, can still "compress" it with it being much more forward than that.

Yeah? Well that's hopeful. I can say that when I complete my swing my weight is 90-95% on my forward leg. I feel my forward foot pressing on the outer edge of my shoe and I finish with pretty much straight forward leg and my back leg is on it's toe.

Based on divots though.... I usually only have a shallow divot...more of a scrape really. Enough to see the path of the club.... But no piece to pick up.

That's just me Mike. I usually play my 7i about 3" inside my forward foot (my right).
I even hit my wedge from that position. Anything from middle and back, I will horribly push the shot unless it's a 1/2-3/4 sandwedge.

Thanks. I should know better than to try to apply a fix for someone else to my issues. Just so tempting for the occasions when I hit a beautiful drive, nice and straight, just a few degrees right of where I intended. It was particularly frustrating on my last round when I hit to the right hand side of a fairway from where the green is nearly unreachable.
