My league partner has them and swears by them. I tried them out on a couple par 3s and was hitting 2 clubs further than i usually do with my nike machspeed x irons. They were noticeably heavier than mine but felt great.  I also struggle with hitting long irons and hit a great tee shot with a 3 iron on a short par 4. I will be looking into these irons soon for myself!

I really like them, they perform pretty well on off center hits. Like you I tend miss it thin and when I do, I don't lose much distance and the shots still launch and spin enough. You will notice some distance lose on toe and heel hits though. Turf interaction is great, some irons in the "tour" category don't have enough bounce/camber, these have plenty so the club doesn't dig when you do take a divot. Durability is awesome. @Bharding08 mentioned they felt heavy, you can also order them at any swing weight you want.

I like them a lot. They do spin the ball very well and are forgiving enough. They are great out of thicker rough, which is big for me. I tend to draw them a bit less than my i20s which I like.

Went through some more testing at Golfsmith today with these and I'm impressed enough that I want to demo them on the course now. I brought in a 6 iron for testing various irons, but the s55 only had a 7-iron to test. Didn't matter though as it's dispersion circle was superimposed over my 6 iron's with a tighter dispersion. On thin shots (my miss too, thin to win! :-D) I would just go right a bit, but that usual on my misses. Besides the very noticeable distance increase (which was surprising since the lofts aren't as jacked up as TM's), I also had a bit of a tighter dispersion pattern. I hit one shot super thin when a club fitter dropped a clubhead behind me, and it didn't hurt as much as some other clubs did (I'm looking at you X forged). The Apex Pro irons also had similar dispersion as the S55, but with a more normal distance. Despite the advantages I saw, I still wouldn't buy them without on-course testing. Having hit the S56's on a range I expect good things from the turf interaction (those things slid through the grass nicely without digging a ditch), but you can only get some much from hitting on a simulator. It may work better for me in those "optimal" conditions, but if it doesn't perform as well on the course I'm better off staying $1,000 richer with my old irons. As an interesting aside, I hit these well with shafts that had been determined previously to not perform as well for me (I did a bunch of testing a year ago) as the ones in my irons. I will want to test the club with the same shaft that I use now just for a better apples to apples comparison where the only difference is the clubhead and the grip. If it's still noticeably better than my Eye 2's, then I'd go about optimizing the shaft in the S55 for me.

Interesting stuff Well said I'm too sorta looking at either s55 or apex pros. Should be interesting over the next few months as I demo them different days

Both are very nice irons, with the main difference for me being the distance I hit them. If you're someone who's big into feel the Apex Pro's had a much "softer" feel to them, with a bit less sensation at contact with a quieter noise at impact. The s55 felt more "solid" just because they had more sensation at impact with a more discernible noise at impact, which some would describe as "clicky". One thing I found most odd was that, for one reason or another, the Apex Pro irons (with two different shafts) made a much more audible "swish" during the swing compared to all the other irons. It was enough that my Grandpa (who went up to Golfsmith with me) could tell when I was hitting the Apex Pro vs any other irons.

Similar experience with me as well.

I was playing Ping i5 irons with stock stiff shafts and wanted something new. I narrowed it down to AP2 and s55. I bought the s55, 1/2 in extension, blue dot, with Dynamic Gold x100 shafts and love them. I would highly recommend testing a few different shafts to see what shafts produce the best ball flight for your game. My previous shafts launched the balled too high with too much spin. The DG x100's feel solid and give me a lot of confidence when taking a rip with a long iron. For the short irons, I am able to control the ball better and hit great controlled knock down shots. The thinner top line of the iron is great to look down at. The more compact head design helps cut through the rough with better contact. I was worried that I would have trouble hitting the long irons but they are extremely forgiving. Although they are not forged, they feel soft on solid and slightly off center hits. Mis-hits don't lose much distance which is great.

This is my first week with my complete s55 set.  I did not think I would say this but I like them better than my i20s.  Even in the 5 & 6 iron.  I like the look of less offset at address. The feel of these irons is very good and they slide through the turf nicely.  One of us should probably review these things.  I could possibly do it next week.

What shafts y'all got in the 55s? I hit my current amp cells with stock shaft way to high and want to bring that down. I know it's a personally feel thing but was thinking kbs tours
