For those of us that are WWII buffs and still have a connection to WWII ... today is a special day ... I like to try and imagine what my dad was doing 70 years ago today ... wow it is very humbling to say the least.

I agree it is pretty humbling.

They are almost all gone now and the folks who are still around are almost all over 90 years old. Thankfully, my Dad was in the Pacific training for the invasion of the Japanese mainland, something that was never necessary.

I can't imagine what it must have been for those guys in the landing craft at Normandy when they had to lower those doors and expose themselves to the Nazi guns. Almost a death sentence. God bless.

My g'pa survived the battle of Midway. Much respect and appreciation to this greatest generation.

My dad's older brothers where twins, one was killed during the Pacific campaign.

Impossible to even imagine what it must have been like on that beach 70 years ago.
