First time shooting par

I never thought I'd accomplish this having 3 kids and playing 27 holes a week with no range time. I raised my arms on the 18th like I won the us open, and the 2 guys I was playing with that I didn't know laughed at me because they didn't know my score, nor did they know it was my first time shooting par.

Great job!

I only did it for the first (and so far only) time last year.  It's a LOT harder and more rare than people might think for us mid-single digit guys.

Way to go!!!!! Haven't done this yet but I bet it feels awesome.

Great job!  Wow ...

I am happy when I still par on the 3rd hole ...

@david yes people assume us 5 and 6 handis have shot par, but I only get 1 or 2 birds a round so it's incredibly tough. I hit 16 greens today which is about 5 more than I usually hit.
@foo I didn't start freaking out until the 17th and it was nice to have a par 5. I almost birdied it. On 18 I've never been more focused in my life. 3 footer to complete it was intense.

Glad you hit it.  A miss there would have been a tough one to take.

Congrats!!  Hope to get a par someday myself.  I may have to live to be 109, but I'm determined to live as long as it takes.

Definitely true. Why did you break your putter? Because I shot a 73...or 72 in OP's case. Hard to explain that one to the wife.

Congrats!

I've only been able to do this for 9. Actually came into the 9th 1 under and 3 putted.

Congrats!

Haven't done it yet either. Best score was +2. Have been under par for 9 holes around 5 or 6 times but can never hold it together.

Congrats!  I've only shot par or better 3 times.  It's better to not know your score on the back 9!  Before that... I've missed puts on 18 to shoot one over or doubled two of the last three holes because I knew what my score was!

The second time I shot par was with 7 birdies!!!  SEVEN... and I only shot par!  I should have been 4 under or something.  I had 3 doubles.  Ouch!

Congratz!  Must have been an awesome feeling!

Good deal, man.

I've shot even on the front 9 a couple of times, but that's as far as I've gotten. I remember one of the times I did it, I shot even bogey on the back and didn't even break 80.

Congrats! Great accomplishment! I imagine it is like everything else. The first time is the hardest. Hope there are many more for you!

I have been close but not yet. 2 over is my best.
