Is there a trick to this, or did I just get a dud? The Leupold folks said I could practice on a stop sign. I got it to work maybe a little better than on the course by scanning side to side. After maybe 3 seconds it would lock on about every 3rd time.
It just seems really difficult to get a positive lock. Anyone else having the same issues??
Yeah, locking onto a pin is very hit or miss for me too. I have a GX-1i, and I wouldn't say it's 5%, but it's certainly less than 50%. Perhaps, 1 in 3??
But I've found that it's totally unnecessary anyway, because I already have a general idea of what number to expect (within 10-15 yards at worst, usually even more precise than that) and it's almost always a much larger difference between where the flag is and whatever is behind it. And if I ever am unsure, then I just aim a bit to the side so I KNOW I'm shooting to the hill behind the flag, and that way, as soon as I see a number that's different and smaller, I know that's my number.
Lastly, the beep is the one thing about the laser that bugs me anyway. I like to play with a little bit of pace, and that means prepping some shots when its somebody else's turn. But I really hate the idea of getting a nice loud beep right in the middle of my playing partners backswing. I like that it doesn't lock. :)
