However I cannot locate the 1h in regular any where!.. Only in stiff!
With the shaft details below, can anyone tell me if I'm going to feel a big difference! Or lose much distance by going stiff?
You might also try a 4W. At 16* or 17* loft, it tends to launch better than a 3W for many average golfers. Also, the 4W likely would have a longer shaft than a 2H, getting you more distance.
You're on the right track. Test them out, and see what works best for you. Let us know what you decide.
(I know one low HDCP players that just smokes his hybrids, but can't hit an FW to save his life.)
The 1h is a tremendous club from the tee for me and can make do as a fairway wood. However, I agree that a 17˚ wood is a better idea; I doubt you'll hit the 15 that much farther than the 20. I'd expect the 17 degree hybrid would do just as well, I hit that loft just about as long as the 15 off the deck for carry. I'm using a 15 and 19 degree right now; but I also am a pretty long hitter so I generate enough height with those kind of clubs. For most golfers, I wouldn't consider anything under 18 degrees in loft or so to be necessary except possibly for tee shots.
If you have the budget, I'd try to contact a matrix representative to supply and replace the shaft. If you just like the shaft in general then you could certainly find something similar for a lot cheaper than matrix's stuff. Something like the Aldila VS proto or Kuro Kage in a similar weight should be similar in terms of profile as far as I can tell and they cost a lot less, 40$ or so.
