This fall I'm planning a golf outing of about 10 days somewhere in Asia. From the pics I just posted of Nirwana in Bali, you can see why this course is on my list. For this trip I would depend about 5,days at the New Kuta course playing and taking lessons, then move on to Nirwana just to play another 2-3 rounds. This is a potentially great trip, but I thought I would ask fir other suggestions for two reasons....... First, although my first trip to Bali was trouble-free, the potential for terrorism was higher than anywhere I have ever visited, so would line to reduce that risk if possible. Second, given the extensive cumulative experience on this site, there might be an even more fantastic trip possible than the one I have planned. I want to play very nice courses, reasonably challenging, have access to instruction, adequate practice facilities for fairway approaches, 120 yards and in, chipping and bunkers. Of course, in Asia, though I guess I would consider elsewhere if there were reasons. Currently, I am looking at a price of about $3-3.5K for the entire trip to Bali. So, any suggestions, comments or advice?

Envious, I have a quasi-girlfriend there in Bali who has recently started to golf. Haven't been over to see her, not sure when I'll get a chance (she comes here twice a year) but would LOVE to play that Nirwana course, it's in my Golf Holes of the World coffee table book, looks awesome. I heard the Aussies come over, spend big, gamble bigger so look out. I have played in the Philippines - reasonable prices and surprisingly, quite a few courses around. Have also heard of organized trips to Thailand for golf, it's becoming so big there starting with Tiger, then Jaidee, now Aphibarnrat, not to mention the lady pros. Wish I could join you!
