I've been Playing Golf for: 10 years

My current handicap index or average score is: 19HC ... disclaimer, I have been working really hard ... in April was praying to break 100, now I am in the low 90's and trying to stay there ...

My typical ball flight is: Honestly its all over the place ... I slice my longer clubs

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Is the slice especially on clubs like driver and 3w

Been working very hard at swinging inside-out ... very hard transition after swing wrong for so long ...

And now you know why I selected iSukGolf as a userid :-D

Videos:

Well apparently I was successful in getting these to you tube ... a feat unto itself ...

Sorry I do not know how to produce a slow motion video, etc ...

First, check your grip

On the backswing the hips slide back and the left knee rotates too far inward, causing you to move off the ball.

To keep things centered and put yourself in a better position on the downswing, I would feel like the left knee flexes more in front of you (towards the ball).

Also spend some time with this drill.....

To start and change this picture

@mvmac Thank you for your comment ... believe me it is greatly appreciated.

I must admit this is first time I have "looked" at my swing ... did not realize I moved so much, and I honestly thought I moved my head more ...

Here is a confession ... I have seen you post that drill before ... practiced it ... and even implement it with success ... but for some reason my old habits creep back into my "normal" routine ... can not explain why ... I guess with two active brain cells, there just isn't enough room ...

I will practice it more, and try to ensure it stays there.

I always "feel" like I "chicken wing" the end of my swig ... but one step at a time ...

Are these videos shot with an iPhone in my backyard acceptable for evolvr?

@Abu3baid I too look forward to seeing improve ... I can not express how my thinking about the whole game has changed in my short time here.  Honestly I have taken almost 10 strokes off, between the forum and LSW book.

Congrats on posting the swing thread.  First step is the hardest..... :-P

Slow motion is not to hard.  All you need is a cheap movie editor on your PC.

Hey, welcome to the I-have-a-swing-thread Club.

The only thing I'll add is to use a mirror at home when trying to learn what @mvmac wrote about. Slow and deliberate to see what feels produce what pictures.

And then when you're at the range, it helps a lot to work on hitting shots only 10%, 20%, 30% etc. to learn the new piece.

Rooting for you! You've made good progress going from 100+ not too long ago to a round in the high 80s recently.

@JetFan1983 thank you for your feed back ... I am going to the range to practice tomorrow night ... can not wait.

Oddly I was moving my hips forward as per the video with good results ... but then a new swing thought comes along and bamn I forget one ... and default to the old swing.

I will be able to video more with the set you see ... I could not figure out how to get someone to video me,, when that popped into my head ... hit off the mat in the backyard ... duh ...

Also hope to work with the Evolvr folks real soon ...

OK I went the range tonight ... went to gym first ... was tired to start with ... my mistake .. but keeping my hips still is hard!  Even pre-loading ... need more work there!  But I can do that in the backyard as well ...

@mvmac what did you see in my grip ... just want make sure I am working on the right thing.

Again thanks to everyone, and anyone that has or wants to post advice.

Left and right hand may be too strong. Check the amount the left hand is rotated, right hand trigger finger position and position of the right thumb.

I will get a video up in the next couple of days ... I have to laugh, as I read everyone else's advice on their threads and see myself doing the same thing ... end up practicing the videos recommended to them... However, I think I am making progress, but want feed back on my grip and moving my hips ...my biggest take away from my first video.

Welcome to the site!!

I would say you look better than your first videos but you still have a lot of movement.  One thing that I noticed first was your left foot coming off the ground.  Some of the more experienced guys may not make this the first thing to concentrate on but there is a lot of merit to key 2 weight forward.  This will force you to keep your foot down along with help with your hips.  I would suggest something like this to go along with Mikes key 2 video as it helped me quite a bit

@Brian W thank you for your feedback ... I will review the attached video ... oddly I feel stable, but looking at myself, it appears I move constantly

Yes it's my backyard ... I hit foam balls for my drills ... Putting green has help roll straight as well ... Best thing is I have no grass in my yard at all!

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
