Hey, Guys, Thanks.

I must point out that the contrast between the groove area and the heel and toe areas is not as it appears in the pics. When I considered the Edels, I did not like the contrast on the Edel Website pics -- the grooved area appeared grey.  When you hold them in your hands or at address, they appear far different -- more like the satin chrome.

The lofts, in 5-PW, are 27, 30, 33, 37, 41, 45. My wedges are 50, 55, 60.

My current gamers are Miura PP-9003. Obvious differences?

Miura Lofts are 25, 28, 32, 36, 40, 45

The Miuras have more of a square toe, more offset, a slightly thinner top line, and less bounce (glide).

The bounce numbers on the Edels are 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 (5-PW)

The bounce numbers on the MIura are  3,   4,   6,   7,   9,  11 (5-PW)

The sole width  appear similar on both irons until you see the grinding on the trailing edge of the Edels that effectively thins the sole, and further grinding adds bounce.

For those unfamiliar with Edel, they are custom irons (like Miura, Edel fits the club to you as to shaft, length, swing weight, loft, lie, etc.) with a higher bounce than most for better club-turf interaction (more forgiveness and less wear and tear on the body).

From Edel:

"Turf interaction is the most critical determinant of an iron's playability. Edel irons are fitted to precisely match the angle of attack created by each individual golf swing. The combination of the proper grind, bounce angle, weight, and shaft creates more solid and consistent ball striking. Edel irons allow an unparalleled level of fitting and customization, and are hand built to match every unique attribute of a player's golf swing. Premium forged from 304 stainless steel for optimal feel and consistency

  • Premium forged from 304 stainless steel for optimal feel
  • CNC machined cavity, face and grooves for optimal consistency
  • Hand ground to appropriate bounce with desired heel, toe and trail relief
  • Variable face thickness progresses through set for optimal feel and forgiveness
  • Toe/Heel weighted for increased stability larger sweet spot
  • Minimal progressive offset "

Enjoy those stix my friend!

Thanks, looking forward to hitting them in 98 deg weather... not.

May wait 'till morning.

They are forged and $50/club less than the Miuras. Or put another way, when one compares a Callaway Apex 5-PW with Recoil 660/880 that is not balanced to you (D0) one is paying $150 more for the Edels with more specific specs and the Recoil 95 shaft.  About 7 years ago, I received a quote for a fitting from a somewhat famous Mizuno account with Mizuno Exsar shafts - the price was similar to the Edels.

So yes, expensive in pure dollar terms, but when you buy right, you don't need to buy again ... for several years. And that represents substantial savings...

Great looking clubs, enjoy!

Appreciate it!

I've made substantial progress on my first keys... It takes time, video and instruction to get rid of 10 years of relative futility.

I've also made progress with different imagery and focus on what the hands are doing... some odd imagery to snap me out of the old picture.

Moving forward...

And if you haven't guessed, the "Welcome Back My Friends to the Show that Never Ends" alludes to the fact that from '98-2008, I was a club 'ho ... big club ho addiction.  Must have had a putter every other month, 3 iron sets a year, wedges 4X a year, and fairway woods? Always trying to find the magic ... that did not exist in a club.

It stopped from the end of 2008 'till late 2011  when I bought the Miuras, and my junkie, the club maker, got me into TaylorMade -- that was a big mistake -- didn't work for me. Figured it out, and went back to the tried and true - Edel Putter - 5 years old, Edel Wedges - 16 months and counting, Bobby Jones Fairways for 16 months, Bobby Jones hybrids for the most part since 2007. Went to Miura irons, and then Edel brought out his afterwards .... so 3 years  later, went with Edel. Hopefully, won't add anything unless it's a Driver, but the Bobby Jones Blackbird is growing on me....

When I do buy now, golf clubs are tools to help you to your goals. How you wield the tools is more important... But nevertheless, when you purchase a fitted club, it's time to celebrate!

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
