All shots are chunky and divots point to the left for a righty player - what should I do?

I'm in a real golf rutt.  All my shots are chunky and the divots all point to the left for a righty golfer.

 

Is their a simple solution for this?  Please share.

That sounds like a weight shift issue, hanging back and swiping across with a low point that's too far back.

 

I'd go here, and look at key#2 videos. I really like the one where you squish a little spongy ball under your lead foot during the downswing.

It seems like you are swinging over the top and might be keeping your weight on your back foot or releasing the club too early.  

 

Shift your weight to your front foot and swing to right field.  ;)

I'm off to the range right now to try shifting my weight to the right; now that I think about it, I am hanging back.  But when does this weight transfer happen and how?  Is it done at the top of the swing or during the downswing?  In another thread, there is a movement (i.e. a slide), of the hips towards the target like Nick Faldo does in his swing photographs.

I find that if you turn your left shoulder over your right knee on the backswing... it loads your right side and your weight should feel like it's on the inside of your right foot.  I find that the more I transfer my weight in my backswing... the more i want to naturally transfer it to my front foot on the downswing.  

 

Find a place that has a slight downhill to it and practice some swings hitting down a SLIGHT decline.  It's very hard to hang back.  You might even take a step after you swing (like the Gary Player swing and step)

I tried sliding my hips towards the target on the downswing  - doesn't help at all.

 

I photographed my swing and clearly my club is very steep and vertical at the top.

 

Does this help clarify what's wrong?

Hard to tell without seeing your swing, but it's likely that you didn't slide as much as you think. Changing a dynamic action in the downswing is a lot harder to do than simply "trying it out" for one range session.

 

There are a number of things that can cause this. What's important is to figure out what is your priority, which nobody can do without seeing your swing. Start a MySwing thread and we can start to figure it out.
