I've been Playing Golf for:​ 4 months

My current handicap index or average score is: 20

My typical ball flight is: ??

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is:  Push and slice to the left

Welcome to the forum. I am sure one of the moderators will be moving this to your own "My Swing" thread, instead of having labeled under, "Need Analysis". Usually members create their own "My Swing" thread, just makes things organized. 

 

On a side note, please learn how to embed videos. Its the little film icon. Just helps us so we don't have to keep bouncing between internet tabs. 

 

 


 

Usually I don't after grips, but I would take a look at this thread. Looks like you are very palmy with the grip, and probably too weak of a grip.

Few thoughts on the posture, I would flare you feet out about 20-30 degrees. Helps free up your hips, just some freebie stuff with an easy adjustment. Just some information on posture. I think you could be a little more upright, little less knee bed.

With the knee bed, you need to loose some flex in your back knee in the backswing. Get that back hip to go back and up more. Maintaining the knee flex in the back knee is causing you issues, primarily a short backswing, loss of power, and keeping your heady steady. You do a good job with the steady head because of the shorter backswing. If you swung the club to parallel you'd probably have to shift your weight to the back foot more, which you don't want to do. I agree with everything you said.  I've since switched to an interlocking grip.  The hips though, feel so limited and stiff.  I'll try the feet tip you gave.  Hopefully will help with the rotation.

Welcome to TST. I am not qualified to comment on your swing technique but strongly suggest that since you are a rank beginner (4 months) work with a reputable professional before you get too far with habits that can be hard to break. The folks who run this website also have online instruction if that would suit you better. Of course I am simply assuming that you haven't already done so.

 

Good luck and stick around. Some of the more qualified folks on the site might chime in.

Thanks for the welcome.  I plan on recording my latest swing and uploading to GolfFix to a pro named Monty.  I heard good reviews from him.  I just like getting several different points of views, cause it's too easy to miss something especially when it comes a golf swing.  I started playing when I was around 15 (now 28), but just this year really put full interest and dedication into it.  Didn't know how much I was doing wrong.  Crazy.

Sure, no problem. I personally don't have any experience with the pro you mention so I cannot comment. I have very good experience with Evolvr, which the site owners run. Check it out. Very reasonable and will work with you very systematically.

Yep agree with this. Rather than have the knees pinched inward, rotate them outward a little. Will help make the overall pivot more dynamic.
