There are no appearance fees in the PGA Championship.

And "retard" means "to delay or hold back." Not how you used it.

No appearance fee in US.

Not really an acceptable word unless the '50's is calling...

I can see him making a change. If for no other reason than he seems stuck. IMO he needs a shrink more than anything.

I don't know how Tiger and Foley get along or how much we can blame Foley for Tiger's decline this year.  If we're going to blame him for this year we have to give him props for last year.

While it's possible Tiger is considering a coaching change.  I also wonder if Foley is considering walking away from Tiger.  Foley seems to take a lot of heat from the talking heads and even members here on his struggles with Tiger.  In many interviews Foley has mentioned he's maxed out coaching professional golfers given his other interests.  He's at the top of the coaches lists, so what benefit does he derive from sticking with Tiger through the downside of his career.  He may not do it, but if I were him I'd consider firing Tiger.

I have a hard time understanding why people are reluctant to acknowledge that Tiger's swing is in part responsible for most of his health issues. He swings the club what, 3,000 times a week for 30 years? I think it's very likely that his swing is almost wholly responsible for almost every ailment he's ever had.

Usually there are rumors of him being around/friendly with players who have another instructor. With O'Meara, Haney. I think Sean O'Hair and Mahan, Foley.

Very unscientific, ya, but which player is he hanging out with, has a swing he likes and is taught by a well regarded pro?

Foley has done good work, I think. Tigers just not healthy. I voted no.

I don't think anyone is not blaming "swinging a golf club" for injuries. I think a lot of people are "reluctant" to blame the swing he's had for the last few years as being solely to blame.

Swing a golf club 3,000 times a week for 30 years and, yes, your body is probably going to be pretty beat up.

All we get are little snippets of what Tiger is really thinking. The one snippet that I can't get past is the conversation he and Rory had as they were walking up a fairway a while back.

Tiger was complaining (or it sure sounded that way to me) that he couldn't control his wedges with Foley and was taking bigger divots that he ever did before.

If Tiger doesn't believe in what he is doing 100% he should change coaches (and I'm not sure he does). He looks like a deer in the headlights when he pulls out a driver.

If he fixed the problem… then you may be the only one of the three still holding on to that.

Very true. They have more facts to go on than I do (or at least one of them does)..

I presume this thread allows guessing and opinions.

Let's hope he fixes the problem. Can you imagine the game of golf with the Tiger Woods of old and the Rory McIlroy of today? Jesus......now that would be something special to watch. You get chills down your spine just thinking of it.

I think he should ditch Foley, whether he does or not remains to be seen. His driving is the biggest flaw in his game. I feel Foley needs to fix the long stick. If that's what they are working on with no obvious improvement then that shows me Foley sucks; if that isn't their priority piece then that shows me Foley is incompetent.

It'd be incredible. Two superstars going head to head, only can help the game

I'm a high handicapper so obviously I'm not that knowledgeable about the mechanics of the golf swing.  However, I have a question for those of you who are.

Is it possible that Tiger's physique is partly to blame for his injuries?  When he was a slim guy he didn't seem to have these problems.  Now he looks like a strong safety with a lot of extra muscle he's tweaking everything it seems.

I realize that his body is older than it was then so I'm sure that is partly to blame, but I was wondering if he's just maybe too bulky.

Incorrect, he had knee issues going back to 1994 when he was an amateur.

No, having more muscle should help with the problem, especially the knee if he built up the lower body strength. Many ACL injuries, the doctors will recommend to keep up working out in some limited fashion, to help keep the muscle from deteriorating before they have to go back to rehab. So being in better shape isn't the issue.

You can't really fix a pinched nerve (bulged disk in the lower back) with keeping in shape.

So I would say his body size had nothing to do with it.

Perhaps Foley should fire Tiger for making him look bad.
