Hello all , I am new to  the The Sand Trap and have a question. We are approaching our club championship and this year we have had some members choosing to tee it fwd to our shorter tee decks. They have adjusted their handicap accordingly but for our "club champion" it must be the "Gross" score ! How can this work if certain players are playing a much shorter course??? thx

Welcome to the forum @golferr .  The forward tees will have a different slope.  You should then be able to recalculate the course handicap for the forward tees based on their handicap.

Handicaps have no part in Gross Score competitions.

You can't. Logically, all players should play from the same tees.

This......except I'd say "must" play from the same tees.

Thanks everyone, It is as I expected and have tried to explain to the members . So wish me luck I will try to get it through to them and the idea of a separate comp for gross and net sounds do-able. We have quite an interesting membership, one guy stated the other day that because he turned 65 he was playing it fwd.........he is a 7 handicap and hits it 280 ! ????? Laughable really, but so you all see what I am up against lol

The club champion in my men's club was always required to play scratch in championship flight from the Championship tees.  No other option qualified.  We also didn't have a choice of tees to play.  That was a committee decision determined by the flight we played in.  I never played well enough to be in that flight, therefore I always played for flight and handicap honors, not for Club Champion.

I don't see how a player can qualify for champion if he isn't playing from the longest tees used in the competition.  That isn't a championship, it's a joke.

One other comment:  Any player in the club (even if he had a 36 handicap) could elect to play for the championship, but that meant he played scratch in championship flight and from those tees.  He gave up any rights to honors in his normal flight.
