Do you remember your first eagle ?

I sure remember mine. It was 33 years ago on a course in Ponca City, Oklahoma. I was playing with my Dad & best friend. It was a Par 5 with water running down the left side. There was a wind behind us and I caught my drive really well. I hit a 6-iron into the green about 4 feet away. All the way up to the green, my best friend kept saying " Don't miss it, now", "Don't miss it, now". I can still remember feeling nervous over that putt, but somehow stroking it in. I've since made my share of eagles but that one definitely stands out because it was the first, and I was playing with my Dad & best friend.

How about you, guys ?

I have yet to taste my first eagle. I'd say over the 12 years I've been playing now, I've had about maybe 7 or 8 eagle opportunities. I had one of those opportunities earlier this year, got on the green of a par 5 in 2 shots, but the putt missed by a few inches. Oh well.

I think it'd be cool if my first eagle were also a hole in one.

I agree. That's the one thing I still really want to do in golf is make a hole-in-one. I've gotten within an inch or two twice, but still waiting...

I have fond memories of mine. 325 yard par 4..drove about 240 and pitched it into the hole. They say the most enjoyable thing in golf is a long way with the putter..how about one without a putter?.
I got mine in my first full year of golf too..dont know when my next will come though.

During my freshman year of high school, we had a 460y par 5. Hit an amazing driver and went 3i to the green to about 3 feet. Made my first eagle in competition..

I have yet to get an eagle, I've come close but not got one yet. On the short par 4 at our course I've driven the green many a time then lipped out on eagle putts, and I've also put some sweet 7 iron approaches almost in for eagles but have to settle for birdies, and sometimes pars!

I've been a single digit handicap through five full seasons playing golf. I've been under five for three full seasons.

I've only had three eagles, ever, and I remember all of them.

About a month ago, #3, 275 yard par 4. Hit the hell out of the toe with a hook that somehow rolled about a hundred yards up a hill to the left side of the green. Made the putt from 15 feet.

I've hit a pin on a par 4, chip, for eagle, (missed it), and missed a 20 foot putt. The hole was about 480, went driver-hybrid, and missed the putt, thats as close as I've come.

par 5.
90 degree dogleg right... goes straight for about 290ish yards then 150 into the pin.. hit a 3 iron i think..... then a weak pw for 190 then 100 respectively.. looking straight at the green.. 7 iron flew the bunkers, landed maybe 5-6 feet in front of the pin and rolled in....
that's pretty much a hole in one

Thats a hell of a cap for only having 3 eagles. Keep up whatever you are doing though, cause it must be working for ya.

As for my first eagle, 330ish par 4(dont remember exact yardage), drove the green to about 25ft. Sank the putt. Have also put up huge numbers on this hole, so I was pretty happy to eagle it.

I remember my first eagle, I drove the green on a par 4 and made a 70 foot downhill breaking putt. But what I really remember is my first double-eagle. I made a 2 on a 506 yard par 5 with a 5-wood from 235.

my first eagle was about thiry years ago. par 5, drive and a fairway wood and a really lucky 30' putt. two years ago i had my first from the fairway, nine iron on a par five and then a couple of months latter a PW on a par 4. didn't get to see either one. but it was fun hunting around and finding my ball in the cup

My first (and only ) eagle came a few months ago while playing Gunters Landing outside Huntsville, AL. It was about a 500 yard par 5, slightly downhill, slight dogleg right, with water protecting the green. I was demo-ing a nike sumo2 and I absolutely crushed it, I rarely hit it that pure. The drive caught a litte bit of downhill roll and I had about 180-185 to a pin in the back of the water protected green (as you can see in my sig, this shot sold me on the driver).

With a long shot ahead of me, I had the vision of one of those D2 commercial and decided to "man up and go for it" (not a great way to play golf, I know). I hit my 5 iron a little thin, but luckily the green was long lengthwise, and ball cleared the water, rolled, and settled 5 feet from the pin.

I walk up to the putt about as nervous as I was excited, and I tried my hardest to calm myself down. I have been in competitive sports before: I played sports in high school in many championship settings, and I competed for a D3 NCAA national championship a few years ago; but nothing came close to the nervousness I felt over that putt. The pressure of course was to not "pull a Godfather" on this hole (2 great shots, then one terrible shot).

Of course I made it, otherwise I wouldn't be writing about it .

most of mine have been chip ins on par 5s. The first one I really remember was at Kaanapali, Maui. My dad and I were playing against my grandpa and uncle and they were giving us a bunch of strokes. I hit two good woods and was next to the green. I chipped it in and my grandpa was so pissed since my uncle had a birdie putt!
I finally made an eagle putt last month-- hit a great drive but it was just in the rough. Hit my hybrid on the green and luckily sunk the 20 footer. still waiting for one from the fairway
