while I don't think, your swing speed always should dictate, what ball you use.. my swing speed is mid 90s... but I also tend to slice on my drives... but my iron play is pretty solid... yet I've settled on NXT/s balls or Maxfli u/3s, I find those give me the best of both worlds...

Opps, I should of also said, how you strike the ball should matter a lot more than your swing speed... if you are honestly straight down the fairway, like it's your job...then i see no issue playing something like a ProV1/x....

Lots of good threads on golf balls available ... I like a "softball" such as super soft

Isn't the "swing speed" recommendation on golf ball packaging really just based off of you hitting your driver?  It's hardly going to matter on a 5-SW approach shot from the fairway right?  You only have roughly 14 holes per round to hit driver, I'd guess most players don't use driver on all of those holes either.  I guess I don't really pay attention to the swing speed recommendation.  I play a ball that's designed to give the best possible performance around the green.

My delemma is the prove x is incredible around the green....I understand choosing a ball from the ghreen back to the tee...but....if I could get a bit more distance off the driver I could increase the possibility of getting more GIR's.........I already play it forward and my drives are straight and about 190-200 yards.

The SR1 is supposed to solve both problems but I can't find an assumption of distance....

I can tell you the SR2 is fantastic around the greens. I have not used the SR1 or SR3 though.

It's all about compression. If you can't compress it, won't go as far. And it's not just the driver. The swing speed is given with respect to the driver but it correlates to every swing. I checked my swing speed the other day. Only 3 swings and not warmed up, but it was between 105 - 110. I would get the balls for under 105 since I purposely don't swing as hard with my irons. Sounds like you could use the SR1. I don't like the Pro V1x. They feel hard. I hit them farther than Pro V1's. Don't really like Pro V1s either.

That's not particularly how it works. Firmer balls always have a higher ball speed at any clubhead speed. Softer balls just spin a little more so that they stay aloft a bit longer.

The balls are marked for your driver swing speed… so obviously you swing your 6-iron slower, but if you swing 110 with the driver, the 105+ balls are recommended for you.

Yea, it used to be simpler when all you had to worry about was the compression. With all these layers, it's hard to know. However, if someone buys a ball rated for 105+ and they only swing 80, they won't get the distance mainly due to the lack of compression . Since my swing speed is right on the margin, I think the minimal loss of distance with the driver would be a good tradeoff with the better feel with the irons.

They're on sale for $22.50 at a local sports store on clearance - the SR1 anyway - so we bought twelve dozen. @NatalieB can use them this next year. I was going to have her use the SuperSoft, but for $22.50 this is a pretty good ball for her intermediate level right now.
