tonight my wife went to the course with me to play 9. In the past she would try to hit a few shots but would end up being my caddy. she likes golf, but she didn't like the pain that came from miss hits and fat hits. my home course just got these sticks called Fling Golf. she played 9 holes of Fling Golf and had a blast, she said she has no pain after the round, and was more fun than golf to her. also note she had never used a fling golf stick or seen one ever but she got the concept, she told me it's like golf slash lacrosse , I got to hit drives, and by the time she to my ball the 4 some infront where just holing out , made perfect timing for me to hit my approach shots to the green. she lost 3 balls, one she lost, the other two I lost trying to see how far I could fling lol. I have no relation to Fling Golf but if you have a youngster or a lady friend that are not golfers I think you should check fling golf out. myself I prefer golf. I also think it's a better idea then soccer golf since the course dosnt have to make changes. sorry for rambling. give Fling Golf a look at. Tom

Thanks for the thread Tom, I've never heard of this and think its an interesting concept. I'm in the same boat as you. I will take golf every time but Its a way to get others out and maybe convert them over time. If you have pictures or theres a website you know of, post it I'd like to see these sticks you speak of lol

I am conflicted. On one hand it looks like something made to sell via infomercial. On the other hand I can see my non golfing family members joining us golfers for a round. Would take the frustration out of the game for that once a year player. Certainly makes more sense than a 15 inch hole. Of course this will not get the support of the equipment companies. Interesting.

Just saw the video, what a great Idea. obviously nothing like golf but yet you can bring out soooooo many people just to try it and I bet you can find enough people to start a league. I would assume the rounds would be faster then a regular round of golf. Very interesting concept!!!

Reminds me of a game we played when we were kids, but we had mud ball wars from opposite sides of a pond with the throwing sticks.

P.S. I would play "Fling Golf". Might be fun.

also just imagine if the the fling golfer could get a custom stick like color and grip. would be cool. and still save average Pearson money vs buying a full set.

look at this way infomercial says I can hit the ball 450 yards, the Fling Golf sticks don't claim that, but they do bring fun to the game for the golfer / non golfer. you all have to try it. like I said I prefer golf. but this is a idea worth looking at.

Sent the link for fling golf to my buddies and we all came to the same conclusion, the ones that golf will play a round of golf any day over this yet we have buddies that don't golf and think this is a cool idea for an activity that we all can do. Not all of us are musicians or play football or soccer. Some don't have the money to play hockey or want to learn golf. But this is a cool idea. Sure it takes place on a golf course and has minor elements of golf but really it will never take away from the actual game of golf. Could I see myself playing this often, no, but maybe once a year.

Just like the video said with skiing came snowboarding both done on the same mountains/hills but very different and after time the 2 coincide. Skateboarding, bmx biking and inline skating all take place on vert ramps or parks or even just streets but all are different. Sure the aggressive inline skating died out but they had events at the x games and even had events where the three sports coincided as one sport and they had teams of 3 (1 from each sport) and they took to the vert ramp at the same time.

Flinggolf, footgolf, frisbiegolf--Why did I waste all that time on real golf?

lol, I agree. but if you got a friend that's afraid of the real challenge. this could be a way to get em started.

Very interesting concept. I can actually see people who enjoy traditional golf also giving this a go for the occasional round. How cool is it to play 18 and all you have to bring is one all-purpose club?

Thanks for the thumbs up! We are paying attention to all the comments, complaints, and ideas especially since we're a start-up! This is not an "infomercial" business. We are trying very hard to create a fun company. The FlingGolf story is posted on the FG website and it truly is a garage (really a barn) story. The game is meant to co-exist along side golfers while accelerating the pace and allowing golfers to enjoy themselves! We are also seeing Lacrosse players begin to adopt the game and get onto golf courses. Please feel free to contact any one of us directly (our contact info is on the website since I do not want to "spam" the forum). Best! Alex and Steve

@flinggolf I am looking forward to watching your company grow. Also great job at dropping in and interacting. I know it is a tough balance to find.

Looks like a longer field hockey stick with some holes, they're saying 150 yards max. Only need to carry one club. Foot, Fling, what's next?

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
