I think I bought fake Mizuno 825 pro, like really bad fakes.

I was actually looking them up before I met up with the seller (on Craigslist - now deleted the post) because I thought they may be fake. The seller ends up being a jovial 60 year old and why I noticed no number marks on the head but I'm excited for my first clubs. The friend I brought along is excited although she would get excited over a wet towel. Regardless, I think I got Hosed out of $300. Looking now, nothing seems right. Goddammit. I def noticed the white line on the face and tonight (playing tomorrow) I was playing around with them and noticed that the back is plastic. The part that says 825 on them.

Those… don't look right at all. The lines are diagonal because the entire "shield" in the back is in a silver triangle that goes all the way to the sole of the club. Yours just has a floating triangle that doesn't go all the way to the sole, with horizontal lines.

I'd consider involving the police.

At the very least, contact Mizuno.

I had a similar issue with a Craigslist seller. They claimed to be a woman and didn't know where the serial number was on the set of clubs. She suddenly quit answering emails after that. Then returned emails when Titleist contacted her about counterfeit clubs... upset about being turned in... Sad thing is that all they will say is that they didn't know and get a slap on the wrist...

The point isn't to get the person in trouble, per se - it's to try to trace it back to a source.

Finding the source has become pointless IMHO. Buying new from reputable companies is the only way to go. These Chinese sellers just open a new company the next door down. Nothing happens to anyone except the end user. They get junk clubs and learn a lesson if they notice they are fakes. Buying used can be someone unloading clubs they got screwed. Market for cheap used clubs is too sketchy anymore. Takes the fun out of buying something cheap, just to try it out.

Do you guys think the cops would actually be interested in this? Here in NYC, I never thought they cared about this. Should I contact Mizuno? I called the guy. He was insisting the deal is done and said he had spent the money (it's been 2 days and doesn't have $300). Then he said he would return it Saturday after he gets paid Friday - which I agreed on. Then he called me back and made a stupid offer of $80 back and made it seem like it was final. The only reason he responded was because I told him I wrote down his plate number.

The chrome around the JPX badge is missing. The counterfeit has embossed letters instead of engraved. The cavity portion is cheaply made and the lines run the wrong way near the hosel. Among other things...

These are really bad fakes.  If the OP had even seen the real clubs he'd have known the ones he bought were fake.  I'm not sure what legal remedies are available since the buyer got to inspect the clubs before purchasing them, at some point caveat emptor has to apply.

      Just want to share a quick update with everyone. I went to the range the week before last, even though I took it easy no significant pain occurred just a slight twinge when I swung my #4 hybrid. The most encouraging news was no soreness the next morning. However I think switching back to graphite shafts is definitely gonna happen, my mp15's were fitted with X shafts and having something lighter will help.
