Here at the Rolling Hills Golf Club in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, we play a Ryder Cup competition.  Unlike the real Ryder Cup, we play it every year.  Also, it's a ROW vs. the USA.  We are a very diverse club with nationalities from every part of the world represented.  Our club makes the UN look like Augusta National.

Unfortunately, like the real Ryder Cup, the US team is coming up short.  For the last couple of years it's been very close. Coming down to literally the last couple of matches.  Last year, the ROW team won by a single match.  This year it was a route.  The final score was 62 - 50!

It's the funnest tournament of the year with great sportsmanship, great food, and genuine comraderie between the competitors.  We play a four ball on the morning of the first day.  Foursomes (alternating shot) in the afternoon and singles on the second day.  My opponent this year was actually a good friend from the UK.  He's a little better than me, giving a stroke, but he didn't have a good day and it was a 6 and 4 final score.

I guess this kind of thing only works if there is a large population of different countries all working in the same place, so it probably wouldn't be feasible everywhere.  But it's a really fun day, even though we lost badly this time.  The captains did the ice bucket challenge after the final scores were announced.

There's always next year!!
