Points probably should have thought it all through a little bit better.   Though if these guys want to play on the Tour, they need to get used to tougher competition.

I think he should have played. Seriously, those guys are gonna have to play tougher players than him next year… may as well get used to it now.

He probably "did the right thing" for PR reasons, but I'd have backed him if he had decided to play.

I think he should have played. Seriously, those guys are gonna have to play tougher players than him next year… may as well get used to it now.

He probably "did the right thing" for PR reasons, but I'd have backed him if he had decided to play.

That was my thought when I read it.  I just think he should have played given his concerns about an 8 week layoff.

If the issue is that he would be taking a spot from someone else, why don't they add another person to the field? If someone qualifies, then they should be entitled to play. I admire that he would withdraw to help other people. I don't think other players should be griping about him. He's entitled to play and make money if he's eligible.

I don't understand ... why isn't it setup such that they give out 25 cards to the top 25 who aren't already exempt??

That is a good point.  But given the way it is I think he should have played.  And any player that criticizes him for playing should be told that if they want to qualify for the event they should play better, not ask someone who did qualify to give you their spot.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Below are the projected priority ranking at the conclusion of the second round of the Web.com Tour Championship. If the tournament ended now, the following top 50 would earn their PGA TOUR cards for the 2014-15 season.

Because Adam Hadwin tops the combined Regular Season and Finals money list, as well as the Finals-only money list, he would be the only player to earn exempt status for the 2014-15 season and a spot in THE PLAYERS Championship.

The players in bold have already secured their cards via the Regular Season.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The Web.com Tour Finals concluded Sunday at Dye's Valley, and 25 more players stamped their tickets to the PGA TOUR for the 2014-15 season.

Twenty-five cards were secured earlier this season at the WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft via the Web.com Tour Regular Season money list.

The top 25 on the Finals money list joined the first 25 to form the 50 who will tee it up on the PGA TOUR.

Below The 50 are listed in order of their Priority Ranking for the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season.
