Becoming? I think they've overtaken TM at this point. 4-5 different drivers in the last year, and as many iron sets. Insane.

I like some of the technology Callaway has been introducing, but... dang.  If you buy a new set of Callaway sticks, I mean NEWest stuff, you've got to know that they have two or three next generation clubs already in the pipeline already.  I'm not saying everyone should be like Titleist and only release new models every two years, but I think it would be nice to let your customers have the latest and greatest in their bags for more than a couple of months.

Another effect that may not be positive for Callaway (Taylormade) is that the deluge of new product announcements becomes somewhat like a white noise for those of us that aren't currently dedicated to the brand.  You just sort of stop trying to keep up with what the latest "longest driver/fairway/hybrid/iron we've ever produced" is all about.

I agree, way too many new releases in a short period of time.  I know some people like it because it means their older versions go on sale quicker but from a business standpoint it reeks of desperation to save the yearly revenue numbers.

What they are trying to do, at least in Drivers, is segment the market.

Older, or need more speed and forgiveness, try the V Series.

You're an all-around fine player and like a traditional weighted club, try the 815.

Expert? Try the 815 Double Black Diamond.

Same thing in Fairways as the XHot line, I believe is being phased out.

I haven't carried a 3 wood in years -- but the V Series Fairways are impressive for their market segment.

Callaway is getting all crazy now.

Not sure if I like this sort of business model. I can understand if you have a product you have developed, and it is ready to go, why wait. Still, this is all sorts of crazy the amount of drivers that Callaway is putting out the last year.

How many people are going to trash the Double Black Diamond because they don't have the swing speed to take advantage of the low spin.  I guess DBD is Callaway's answer to the TM SLDR, which only about 10% of amateurs should buy but many more will and be disappointed with the results.

At least Callaway tells golfers the DBD only for experts and low cappers... that's not what TM did with the SLDR...

Chip Brewer is a junkie ... he keeps on throwing out equipment... at least it is segmented to a certain market and Callaway markets the clubs in a somewhat ... somewhat responsible manner...

except the irons ... can't get into a 6i that is 4i shaft length..

So right people. It's all getting very silly.  Those poor old people who bought the XHot have barely had time to play enough to tell they love them and there're phasing them out for clubs that are, ahem, better than ever. How does that make you feel.  And they are all doing it, even those serious ninja club makers at Mizuno.  The differences are so tiny and without new materials this is just playing games and trying to re-invent what we have already got in our bags. It's a bit insulting.  I have a set of launcher super deep forgiving magical irons, and I am not saying the make.  I swapped them for Cleveland 588 CB forged which are aimed at a better player than me if I'm honest.  My handicap and game has not suffered. I won't be searching for the wonder clubs seen in any adverts, I love mine Clevelands cos they look and feel lovely.  Your swing makes the ball fly straight and long, so invest in that and play the sticks you love.

True, TM is just now admitting that the SLDR required a swing speed over 100mph to see the results they touted.

I tried the Big Bertha 3h and put it head to head against my X2 Hot 3h.  The BB was on average 10 yards longer for me.  I've never hit a 3h 200 yards, but I did with the BB.  I'm not sure if it's the Recoil shaft or the head but I hit it long and straight.  Needless to say, I bought it and it's in the bag.

Disappointing,  I thought they had found their way with the XHot and reducing the number of iron models they had last year.

Not disappointed.

I like the BBV Series ... and would like to demo the new adjustable BB hybrid.

Callaway is expanding the stock shaft line.

Callaway is offering different heads for different market segments with expanded stock real deal shafts.

They are basically offering ... customization.

Aren't they doing what we've asked them to do?

On the other hand, TM has gone down to one lineup for all golfers with the SLDR. I do not see where they are serving the various market segments. Even their RBZ lineup was more attuned to better golfers -- except for the driver (when cut down), they were not easy clubs to hit. My guess is that's why they bought Adams (in addition to the slot tech). They could hoist TM as the expert-to-mid capper line and Adams as the mid-high capper line.

It did not work or they did not execute correctly.
