Several years ago I had a 9.5 degree driver and I hit it well. One day while at a driving range/pro shop the owner talked me into a 10.5 loft saying it's all about getting the ball up leading to increased carry distance. Recently I was at Golfsmith on their Shot Analysis hitting a 7.5 degree loft driver getting longer drives than ever before. 9.5, 10.5, 7.5 heck which works best for you?

Depends on the driver, I've ranged from 8 degrees to 10.5.

8.5* R9. Not much doubt in my mind I would do better with at least a 10* on the course I play where carry is EVERYTHING.

11.5 ... I would probably hit 7.5 a good 130 yards ... But it would not stop rolling for another 70 yards ...

10.5 right now, I've tried my driver at 9.5 on the range and not really noticed a difference from 10.5 so I keep it higher with the hope that maybe it cuts down on my fade/slice..

10.5 custom component. I use to play a 9.5 until I saw the error of my ways. I also have 7 degree pos that I sometimes fool around with. It's very humbling

I tend to hit high. I stay away for double digit lofts. I sometimes use my Mizuno MP600. So, I can make adjustment.

Once I was hitting decent drives, I always used a 9* driver. Since getting back into golf, I now have a older Ping G10 10.5...and Love it, as my swing improves, so does my distance. Could prolly benefit from newer technology, but I think I'll keep my 10.5 for awhile.

7.5 when I used Titleist 975D. That was one of my favorite driver. I couldn't miss with that driver. When I moved up to 910D2, I went up to 8.5 effective loft. They didn't have 8.5 on 910D2 so I bought 9.5 and adjusted to 8.5

Remember that stamped loft does not equal actual loft. Typically, OEMs adjust upwards. So we are all talking relatively here. But I'll assume stamped is within a degree of measured loft.

Also, different Drivers are designed for more or less launch, forward weight (SLDR), High MOI (weight in back - Ping G30 and other drivers), and weight not as far back; and some drivers are meant for mid launch, low, low spin, and some mid launch and mid spin.

And lofts also vary based on the age of the drivers -- older drivers are lower launch and higher spin.

And then the shaft has an effect...

And then there is golfers swing and setup...

The point is that comparing lofts among golfers is almost a useless exercise unless one accounts for the above...

My SS is 90-95, and I attempt a positive angle of attack.

I use a Callaway BB V Series ... It is a higher launch, mid spin head, which is good for my swing (so far).

In the stock setup with the 43g Basarra shaft, I loft at a stamped 10.5.

With the Speeder 565 shaft, I loft up to 11.5.

9.5 degrees, and sometimes I get a good shot. The loft is not the issue, it's the side spin.

Took it out only a handful of times the last 5 rounds.
