15" hole - Why 15"? Why not 24"?

I totally agree that one of the reasons for golf's decline is slow play.  Here's more reasons:

1) very poor TV coverage - too many talking heads and "human interest fill ins"; when I watch golf on TV, I want to see actual play 100% of the time,

2) "prima donna" pros - I want to see a tournament where the pro has 15 seconds to hit the ball once he is within 10 feet of his ball and its his turn or suffer a one stroke penalty for every 10 seconds thereafter.  Plus give every spectator an air horn to be used whenever they wish and a flash camera too.  Dump all of the Marshall's with "QUIET PLEASE" signs and give them stopwatches instead.

3) The $ paid to pros are ridiculous.  Cut their payout by 75% and put the left over money into a program to build and maintain more municipal golf courses.

4) Lets find a way to take the stigma out of the red tees for older players; some courses are just waaaay too long for most golfers.  Age 50 makes you a senior for the pros, but even at 65 a guy is labeled a sissy unless he plays off the gold tees.

5) Require one motorized cart for every two golfers and no more.  On private courses its not unusual to see 6 players together and each one in his or her own cart - ridiculous.  And I absolutely HATE walkers; if you want to walk do it elsewhere, I want to play golf, not watch you walk.

I've played a 15" hole course, and it was quite enjoyable. Play was much faster, 3hrs, and everyone had a good time joking and gambling when someone would miss anything inside 15'. It's just a MUCH better version of mini golf or TopGolf. I don't think walking is the issue it's really just etiquette and course management. I have plenty of friends that are slower when they use a cart, and god forbid its Cart Path Only...forget about it. Lastly I would say tee choice is a huge issue! I have friends that require we play the tips on friendly rounds and it makes me cringe. Their argument of feeling better about shooting 83 from the tips than 75 from one tee up always baffles me. I'm all for playing it back, but sometimes variety can be nice. Also, changes the course quite a bit, sometimes for the better!

Almost every person that I have talked with has the exact same response when I asked them how they liked it. It seems that everyone who has tried it for the most part likes it. Every beginner I asked loved it. Thought it was a great way to start learning. I would encourage people to try it before making any judgements.

A bit of an extremist, aren't you?  While you have your head aimed in the right direction, when you exaggerate that much, it tends to put people off and take you less seriously.  Offer real world suggestions and you'll get better buy-in.

On my home course the gold tees are the most forward tees.  There are no red tees.  From back to front:  black, blue, white, and gold.  It's done precisely in an attempt to remove the stigma that's associated with the red tees being "ladies" tees.

    • Ok, it's been a while, but I finally got the 18th hole! It was the only one left over from last year and it took 14 months, but I got it today. It is a slight dogleg right, plays 425 up to an elevated green into the prevailing wind. Playing slightly up, I hit driver and had about 160 into the green. Hit 6 iron to 4 feet and with a straight uphill putt made it center cut! Now I can stop thinking about that hole!  All I have left this year is 5, 15, and 17.  Let's Go!
    • He’s just tired of fighting. And being asked. And just tired.
    • Yeah, that's what most of the guys there were saying. I'm guessing they weren't able to cut them due to all the rain. Or maybe they are growing really fast and since we tee'd off at 6PM... 😜
    • Frankly, one could be forgiven for thinking there was some truth to the rumor as seemed like he was laying the groundwork for a while with his softened stance on LIV.
    • Well, Rory nipped those rumors in the bud: Rory McIlroy: 'I'll play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career' - world number two dismisses LIV Golf link Rory McIlroy says he will play on the PGA Tour "for the rest of my career" as he quashes rumours of him making a big-money move to LIV Golf. I suppose you never know, but it's a stark contrast from how, for example, Cam Smith handled the rumors. Feeling much better about this today.
