I live in Orlando, I have for almost two decades, but I'm new to playing golf.  I don't know much about local courses.  I spent most of my years here living on a golf course (Twin Rivers), and while I might play it some day, I've been told its a difficult course.

Now I live closer to downtown Orlando, only about 3/4 a mile to a driving range but I don't know much about other golf courses in the area.  I'd like to find something very cheap, sort of like a municipal course or something blue collar, and my search online hasn't been successful in this area.   My upper limit on price would be 25-30 dollars or so for 9 holes of golf, but I'd prefer to pay less, and I think I'd prefer a par 3 course to start out because I could get by with fewer clubs.

Fall/Winter is "in season", that's why it's getting more expensive. I was told the lowest cost was in the summer.

Thanks for the recommendations.     What about the course in Casselberry?  I know Casselberry is generally much more blue collar than the rest of Seminole county, but how is the golf course?

There are 2 that I'm somewhat familiar with in Casselberry. CC Golf Club and Deer Run.. Either would also be a good option for you, though Deer Run will cost just a bit more. Just be aware that conditions at all of these courses can vary from decent to pretty poor. You get what you pay for. All are in pretty close proximity to each other, so I'd choose based on current conditions. Check GolfNow for recent reviews and best rates.

  • 3 weeks later...

I ended up playing at Twin Rivers on Wednesday.   This was probably the wrong course for me but at the time it was convenient.   Besides the course being in poor condition, I found alot of the holes too long.  I think I'd like to play more par 3 holes where the pin is clearly visible (another factor was there were soccer-golf holes with pins and this confused me a bit on one hole).

Unfortunately, I've had a hard time finding executive courses in the Orlando area.

    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).
