I've been having problems seeing golf balls at the driving range during daytime  When I hit them up into the air, I just can't see them most of the time- only when they hit the ground.  At night, I can see them up to at least 175 yards, if not more, illuminated by the range's lighting and contrasted against the sky.

I have thought about trying yellow golf balls when I actually go to play on a real course, but so far I've mostly just found white balls in the x-outs/re-loads.  Also, not all shades of yellow seem high visibility to me.

I'm red-green color blind.  Actually, I see red and green to some extent, but I see fewer shades of difference between the two colors, so they are hard to distinguish . So orange doesn't look as bright to me as it probably does to most, and there's definitely less contrast against grass.

Yeah, and if the sun is facing you it's also hard to tell where it lands. This is why I got a monthly course pass to see how far I actually hit the balls.

From my limited experience, the range is only good to see how well you actually hit the ball and the initial flight, maybe? Range balls are very different from the balls you play on the course, too.

I also have problems seeing a white golf ball past about 150 yds. I now use Srixon yellow balls, and can see them pretty well out to about 180-200 yds on the course. Might give em a try.

I'm going to try some C grade recycled balls like you can get at Wal-Mart.   They will not be great but at least I'll be able to test them out.

I also have some nicer recycled balls (DT Solos and NXT Tours), but they are white.  I think I'll carry a few of each color in my bag and use them depending on the sky conditions.

I'd suggest giving the yellow or orange balls a try, I use them because I too find white balls easy to lose in the air. I can see the yellow ones a lot better. You can get some wilson 50's yellow for $12 at Walmart to try yellow out.

I have a hard time picking up golf balls in flight - especially when I focus on keeping my head down through impact.    Its the worst on a cloudy day - white balls against white clouds doesn't work well for me.

I usually use yellow balls, but switch to orange on the cloudy days - I find I can pick them up best

My dad gave me a bag of old Intech Beta Titanium balls that my brother bought years ago but never used.  So I'll be able to try them out.   From what I've heard, they have low spin, so not so great around the green (like other similar low compression, distance balls).

For some reason, yellow is really common in these cheap balls you find at Wal-Mart, but rarer in golf shops and sporting good stores.  I'm also going to try out some Nitro Tours and see how that goes.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
