Looking for some advice/someone to talk me off the ledge (or more specifically, talk me out of throwing my clubs off that ledge).

Been very consistent with my driver/3w for going on three months now.  Not always perfect, but only miss was left, usually an overdraw.  Club head speed had climbed from 96 to 108 (some of that is from increased core workouts, but a lot of it was technique).  Irons were the same, misses were only going left.  Halfway through a round yesterday, after being 1 over through 10 holes and hitting very good tee shots, I block one right...then another...then a big slice right.  You know that feeling you get when you know a cold is coming on? Felt like that.

Went to the range after the round, and it got worse.  Went back this morning, nothing.  Swing is completely f'ed.  Everything feels awkward and foreign, grip (which must have changed, because I noticed the start of a blister on my left index finger, though I can't figure out how), backswing (club face feels open no matter what I do, and I've had a very square to slightly shut club face), downswing, etc.  Can't draw the ball if you paid me.  Misses are either big push slices or pull fades.  Easily losing 30 yards+.

So that's the story.  Any ideas?  What do you do when your swing that's been very reliable and completely committed to muscle memory just vanishes and you feel like you've never picked up a club before?

Did you take a couple weeks off?

Unless you've been consciously trying to change something, the swing probably isn't all that different.

Nope.  Not from playing at least.  Consistently playing 2-3x per week.  Hitting the range less since I started playing more tennis, but that (for the last month at least), really only affected my short game/putting.  Haven't tried to change a thing since I've been happy with my swing.  Only thing I've worked on is not drawing shots from 60-110, which I'd been doing for a while.  Other than that, nada.

It's the damnedest thing...

I would chalk it up to a bad day then.

Maybe this thread can help,

See a great instructor.

@mvmac is one and he's nearby.

Yeah...you guys are right.  Mike, you're in the LA area?

Mike is actually in San Deego..haha, but, he does get up to El Darodo in long beach now and then. I would also highly recommend Mike as an instructor..Mike knows golf... ;-)

Yeah...you guys are right.  Mike, you're in the LA area?

I'm planning on seeing Mike once I get over this shoulder injury. Not sure what date you are planning on, but I wouldn't mind timing it so that he only needs to make one trip up for more students.

He's really worth every penny.
