I just wanted to start a thread to talk about new games, iOS apps, etc. that I think are great.

I'll kick it off with this game, a game called Monument Valley.

It's $3.99. Eight more levels (beyond the 10 you get) are available for $1.99. I have bought and nearly beaten all of them. Each level takes between three to eight or ten minutes.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/monument-valley/id728293409?mt=8

Highly recommended.

Heads Up kinda new-ish and doesn't look like much, but is so much fun to play with family and friends and always good for a laugh.

It's basically 20 questions on steroids, ask as many as you want, do it as many times as you can within a minute. Watch people make fools of themselves and piss yourself laughing.

If you're a sports fan, the bleacher report app is pretty great.

I'm a big fan of Evernote.  Honestly never thought I'd use it as much as I do, but it seems like I use it almost daily.  Nice that it syncs between all my devices (desktop, iPhone, iPad).  Probably use it and my password management app (Keeper) the most of anything.

I use Weather Underground for weather because I like their radar maps.Other than that, I'm kinda lame. Mostly first-party stuff. Stock Apple apps, the official Facebook and Twitter clients, SportsCenter for sports, etc. The Bank of America and AmEx apps are both pretty handy. Get a lot of use out of those. I like that I can pay my cable/internet and cell phone bills right through the Xfinity My Account app and the myAT&T; app. I like Mark Bittman's How to Cool Everything app. It doesn't include all the recipes from his book, but it's pretty expansive. Nice to be able to quickly reference something when you're at the store. This is dumb, because they're so high-budget, but I've always liked how well the Amazon app works. Makes everything pretty simple. My health and dental insurance providers have apps. That's nice. I still carry the cards, but maybe some day I'll just take them out of my wallet. Occasionally if I want to browse news I'll open Flipboard. Not too often though. A cool app I'd encourage people to check out is ImprovEverywhere (or just check out their website). They have some cool stuff.

Interesting podcast on the game:

This week Myke is joined by Daniel Gray from Ustwo Games. They talk about what went in to developing Moument Valley, what makes it different and break down the events surrounding the release of their expansion—Forgotten Shores.

I'll listen to that. I bought the expansion pack and the $0.99 (RED) expansion too.

Was a great game. Really loved it.

Finally tried Overcast, a podcast player. Some great features to get through podcasts faster. Basically speeds up the pace of audio without making it sound that way. Skips over silences, stuff like that. Spyglass - compass on steroids. Have to check out the app page to see what it's capable of. Half price right now.

I've been trying out GolfMatch, a social networking app for golfers.  I rather like it.  You can see what nearby golfers are up to.

I really like the Weather Underground app, by far the most accurate weather app I've tried, and I've tried a lot.

My favorites are Feedly, Instapaper, iA Writer, and Day One.

Day One in particular is a phenomenal journal app. Each night I write a snippet about my day, add a picture if I want, and it tags the day with my GPS location, where I spent the day, the music I listened to, the books I read (kindle), etc.

I've been using Instapaper since it was released. Great app.

I use Pixelmator for OS X - didn't know there was an iOS version. The mobile version is an excellent photo/image editor.

Right now hooked on Out of the Park Baseball 2016.

Basically play general manager for a whole MLB organization from majors down to all the minor league teams and play manager for the big league club. Got through 2 seasons without being fired and got rid of most of the overpaid players in NY.

Was 39.99 on itunes. (mac game, not for phones)

So… not what you would call a "great iOS app"? :)

Not going to lie, I am fairly new to the whole mac thing and an android phone user, so I may not fully know the difference,

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
