Pretty simple. My list:

The B.S. Report with Bill Simmons
You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes
Grantland Sports
Grantland Pop Culture
The Starters
Serial
Men in Blazers
Firewall & Iceberg
Save It For Air
Freakonomics Radio
The Poscast with Joe Posnanski and Michael Schur
Some of them update infrequently (The Poscast is like every other month, Save it For Air is twice a month), some are weekly (You Made it Weird, all the Grantland shows, Serial, Men in Blazers, Firewall & Iceberg, Freakonomics), some daily (The Starters). Simmons usually releases a few a week. If I fall behind with The Starters (formerly The Basketball Jones) I'll skip a few episodes. I'll skip Grantland podcasts if they're not about a topic that interests me. Sometimes I'll skip the interview portion of MiB. I only listen to the sections of Firewall & Iceberg about shows I care about (because they're great about putting the timestamps in the descriptions). Freakonomics kind of goes in seasons. They'll release weekly podcasts for months and then go a while without releasing anything. Making It with Riki Lindhome is another show I'll listen to, but it's been "off the air" for nearly a year now after having taken another year-long break not too long before that. I used to listen to a show called Punt Brothers, but stopped after Jon Bois left.

In my bag:

It is about time to cancel my XM subscription because these more than fill my free driving time and my co-worker would probably be pretty offended if I played these during work hours.

Well, when the NYT gets a hold of a trend, you know it's close to its peak. Or maybe not, who knows. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/24/business/media/serial-podcastings-first-breakout-hit-sets-stage-for-more.html?nytmobile=0

We do a lot of driving from one location to another. Every now and then, I'm forced to listen to Richard Spencer. It's good that I sleep easily seated upright.

So a couple of buddies of mine were talking about this particular podcast, and it somehow got me wondering about podcasts in general (I was previously listening to none of them) and what kind of stuff is available. Β A long time ago (late 1990's) they had an old-fashioned radio program hour on a local AM station and some of those shows were fun. Β I found a podcast that has them called "Old Time Radio Mystery Theater."

I also love the Men In Blazers tv show, so I also subscribed to that podcast as well.

But before I even listened to either one of those, I went ahead and gave Serial a shot ... aaaaaaaaaaaaand I am completely hooked. Β I now can't wait until it's time to drive to or from work so I can listen to the next episode! Β A few more, though, and I'll be caught up, and will then be stuck with the rest of the world waiting for one new episode a week.

Very excited about this "new" (to me) form of entertainment that I feel is going to make car rides waaaay more fun than just flipping through pop music stations or listening to guys yap about how much the Lakers suck.

So what's the answer to the obvious question. I know you're a guy with nothing but free time and no job/interests/family/hobbies etc. Surely you need something to fill the void! :-P

Nobody paid us to do it. Four or five man hours for… nada. I love golf, and love talking about it, but… I already do that for 80+ hours a week.

Figured that, but it was a real shame when they stopped. I don't know - Β some kind of sponsored syndication deal would be nice. The conversations were great as they were so current and relevant, as well as not having to hold any allegiances. Good, down to earth and honest stuff. They tied a few threads together and gave a nice sort of "final word" in some cases. So much better than anything else out there.

But there are 32 hours in a day, aren't there? ;-)

Shorty, man, if you can find a sponsor that can pay us enough, we'll happily resume them and you can take a cut if there's any left over. :) It'd be great; I always liked doing them.

In this thread, it's kind of… :offtopic: .

Not my favorite as it hasn't even started yet, but very promising - new The West Wing Podcast with one of its characters, the actor whoΒ plays Will Bailey andΒ Hrishikesh HirwayΒ of the Song Exploder podcast and special guests as I'm guessing the guy playing Bailey will get people from the show on the podcast. Listen to the clip for the hip-hop opening theme.

Here's Song Exploder on Game of Throne's theme:
