At the range today, I tried something new with my driver since I've been slicing it really bad. When I first started playing, I teed it up dead in the middle of my stance and hit it straight. I mean dead straight. I changed to my front your because that's "what I was supposed to do". So today, I teed the ball up front, but set up like it was teed in the middle of my stance. I kept my eyes on the "ball" on the middle of my stance, and took a swing and hit an absolute bomb. I did this 5 more times in a row. Any time I focused on the ball, slice. What an I missing?

I don't think your missing anything..lol  I play driver off my forward toe, and I either hit a baby draw, or a 10 yard push, whats weird is the push goes Much further...Can't explain why your doing that, maybe one of the swing guys can help you..

It's likely that when you set-up to the forward ball position you are moving your upper centres (head and torso) forward as well. By addressing the ball as if it is still in the middle you stay behind the ball creating secondary axis tilt at impact. There is a video about this, I'll see if I can find it...

In your situation the key is going to be how long you can keep hitting those "bombs". If you can keep hitting the ball well with what you are doing, don't try to understand it. Just keep doing it.

I do something similar myself. I tee the ball up forward of center in my stance, but at address I have the club head in the center of of my stance, and slightly open. I don't look at the ball either at address. I look at my club face to see that it looks right to me just before I start my back swing. I have the belief that this set up works well because of my very neutral grip, which of course deviates from the norm.

Of course some days I drive the ball better than others. Those "off days", I don't worry much about it since I know I will have more "on days" in my future. On those poor driver days, it's OK to leave the driver in the bag on those occasions.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
