Today I got my first hole in one on the 3rd hole at Las Vegas Golf Club. I hit a P-wedge for a 100 yard shot that rolled into the cup. I thought it was a close tap in birdie from the box, then I couldn't see the ball but I figured it was behind the pin. as we drove up to the green my playing partner said it's in the cup.I didn't believe it till I walked up to the green and no ball was in sight.

It was so awesome. I know it was only a 100 yard shot, mind you it was from the tips. Any rate I'm pretty happy. Best 25 bucks for Golf I ever spent. I can die happy now lol Next I want a par 4/5 Eagle. That seems so much harder.

That's exactly the way I felt, too, when I got mine on July 26, 2006. My friend, Joe, has been playing 40+ years and has yet to get his first. He swears that he will get one before he dies. He'll be 70 next year. Time is running out...

Don't forget to save the ball. You can find all kinds of trophies to mount the ball. Save your eagle balls, too...  http://thesandtrap.com/t/78237/does-anyone-save-golf-balls-from-memorable-holes#post_1079116

Thanks Everyone. Yes, Thankfully there was only one other person playing with me. It was a round of tasty bloody Mary's and a celebratory burning of the sacred plant.

It didn't even occur to me to save the ball until my playing partner said to save it. It was a dirty Maxfli water ball that I pulled out of my pocket to save from losing the titliest nxt I was using lol.

Its still a little surreal. I've never even seen a ace until yesterday, I'd always ask strangers I play with if they'd got them and their stories are always so cool if they indeed get a hole in one. It just feels good to own that little piece of rare luck.

Congrats! I've been playing single digit HCP for 40 years and no ace yet. Lots of eagles. Even had back-to-back eagles once, so I don't save those balls. I would save all aces though. So this means you're going to mount a scruffy water ball for your ace. That would be my luck too. :-) I've had a couple of aces in foursomes I've been in. I always buy the drinks for them. Stupid tradition of having the person who hits the ace buy the drinks. If you were to bowl a 300, the drinks are lined up waiting for you. Really screws up any subsequent games. :-D

Congratulations!  And in Vegas!  That could be really dangerous in a really fun way.

That's also a good thread starter.  What is the longest shot you've ever holed?

Both of my holes-in-one were on short par 3s with wedges, too.  Certainly nothing to complain about!   I once holed a 200-yard 2 iron in my youth for an eagle.  The funny thing was the hole was only 380 yards.  I had "flighted" my drive a little high!

And NOPE, never kept the ball.  The first one I had for quite a while, but it was probably thrown out at some point along the way.

I've got the 300 and pocketed 8-ball. Also have a 7-10 split and 4-6-7-10 pickup. I don't want to get an ace! The golf gods will probably kill me before I leave the green. :-D

Sorry, but pocketing the 8-ball on the break is fairly routine for anyone of even modest ability. As a guess, maybe1 in 30 attempts or so. Not in the same league as an ace or a 300 game in bowling. I'll also offer that of the 2, a 300 game requires tremendous skill, while the ace is much more luck, as evidenced by the number of relatively unskilled golfers that have one, or even more.
