There's a video with some golf celebs saying "welcome to the new golf.com."

What do you think of the new design?

It's not bad.  I like that they still have the list on the right for the news links.  I don't like when its all pictures.

I don't recall what the old format looked like because I maybe went there twice, but this one's very good. It's visually appealing and there's a ton of content that's all easily accessible from the home page.

Kudos to them!

It saddens me that more and more websites are going this route:

I also don't love that this is content (red) and the rest is not.

It threw me off a bit when I first encountered it. I wasn't really a big fan of the site to begin with because it's always been, to me, an extension of their magazine: lots of ads and little content. I guess I'll go with ambivalent. Indifferent would suit me better :-)

I looked at it. I'd probably go back to it on occasions just to read about a different perspective on stuff.

I can't stand the 3-hotdog menu button on full-size desktop windows, and I don't particularly care for the menu bar across the top of the screen that follows as you scroll.

Desktop version:

  • Don't like boxy photos
  • Don't like infinite list of articles as boxy photos
  • Don't like video autostarts
  • Don't like video on top of article text
  • No print option
  • Don't like listicles
  • No way to find longform articles
  • Can't get a lot of text on the screen, header takes up too much header space.
  • Not a fan of commenting platforms like Livefyre.

The mobile version is better, the infinite list works better on a handheld device. I like the design of the leaderboard pages, easy to get around and gets to the point.

I like that the videos have closed captioning. I dunno if CC existed before redesign.

Yea I don't like it. It is all a jumbled mess now.

Nope, don't like it or any other website that's similar. It's too much like the "facebook" interface and I'm not really fond of that either. It's not that I went there a whole lot before the redesign but I'll be going there even less now.

I hate the look of sites that appear are if they are obviously published though CMS (content management systems).  Everything is cookie cutter, just throw in the words and associate a picture or video into the database and server publishes it.  Way too much space and time dedicated to ads and autoplay video is always annoying.   Unfortunately this is the trend, so I expect eventually all sites will look like this.

That's pretty much everything nowadays though. I like the clean look, but I hate having to move around all the time to get more text.

I agree. I like a cleaner, more organized format.

For a minute, I thought I jumped over to Nike golf :-D No shortage of ads!
