Hello, I just had a question on if anyone has used the sldr s driver?

I have have had a hand me down driver for about 2.5 years, works well but I would like to upgrade because it is roughly 10 years old.  I was looking at the sldr s driver because at my golf shop if you buy one of those you get a free rescue, hybrid, or wood. Im going to hit the driver and other ones soon.  I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could give any recommendations on a driver, Im still gonna hit a bunch of them for the determining factor but going into it with an idea would be appreciated.

Going into my second question, I would like to know what people recommend.  Whether they recommend a rescue, hybrid, or wood?  I already have a rbz stage 2 3 wood that I just got about 6 months ago and want to stay with it because I love the feel and hit it well.  I was gonna get a 5 wood with the free extra club I would get for buying the driver but then I thought and realized I very rarely or almost never hit my 5 wood so I figured it would be a waste to get it.  Then I thought about a rescue or hybrid because a lot of people use them and speak highly about them but I have never hit one.  I have read they are great for people struggling to get out of the grass with their irons but I never have had a problem getting out of the rough with the irons.  So if anyone has a suggestion on what club to go with (rescue, hybrid, or wood) I would also greatly appreciate that.

Many Thanks,

Patrick

Welcome to the site @Patrick Doty , you can check out our review of the SLDR S driver here,

http://thesandtrap.com/b/clubs/taylormade_sldr_s_review

There are plenty of other good drivers out there, PING G30, Callaway BB 815, Titleist 915, it's just about figuring out which one is best for you. Hit them on a launch monitor and compare how they perform.

If you already like your 3 wood, then go with a hybrid. A rescue is a hybrid btw, it's a TaylorMade hybrid.

Thank you for the response and welcoming me to the website.  Ill be sure to take a look at the sldr s driver review, didn't know it was on the website because I just joined yesterday.  Yeah I'm highly considering going with a hybrid just not sure what loft or club to go with (4,5, or 6).

Thanks,

Patrick

I have a couple of stage 2 hybrids that are adjustable and that helped me a great deal setting up my preferred shaft angle.

My longest is my 4 iron, I can carry it 180-190

Ok, assuming your 4 iron is 24 degrees, the 4 Rescue will go about 10 yards further than your 4 iron and the 3 Rescue will go about about 20 yards further (210). Obviously I'm not familiar with your game and just giving you a ball park idea. I would hit these on a launch monitor to double check the gaps.

But an accurate long iron is a thing of beauty. I would take 5 or 7 yards shorter for left right variation.

I bought the Callaway Big Bertha as I found it more forgiving than the Taylor Made SLDR.  I am 64 years old and found the big bertha to give me more distance.  Basing the distance gain on I'm now as long as the guys I normally play with.  I have a carry distance of 235 on the BB and we are about 3000' in altitude.  Previous driver was a titleist 910D.  The BB is longer, but the feel is not as good as the titleist, but I'll take the extra distance.  I don't know your finances, but don't let a free club entice you to buy a driver that you doesn't fit you.  Drivers are expensive, but good for years.

Yeah after looking more at everything I'm looking at the BB and ping G30. The extra club isn't that big of a deal now because I can hit my irons and everything fine

    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).

    • I'm relieved someone finally defined hiking. I was giddy when I saw these new TPI videos a day or so after they dropped. Very easy to understand the problem and solution the way they have presented it. Been working on fixing this for about a year and a half now. It's nice to be able to call it something so communication becomes easy.  I was working on more lateral and up too, but just having someone define it clearly in video form was so helpful for me to continue confidently with what I thought was wrong and how I had to fix it.  My conceptual error here was just trying to rotate like a tour pro but without including the necessary forward pressure/weight shift associated with enough lateral and upward motion of the pelvis.  This video is great too, as is Greg Rose.
    • Day 2.    couple mins of rolling putts end over end.    10 mins of Slow, mirror work, working on starting the downswing and impact wrist positions. Hit a couple balls into the net after.    Then finished with a couple chips to see if I could repeat what I worked on yesterday.
