Serious shanks

Hey guys, I've been playing golf on and off for about 12 years now, but recently started back up full throttle 2 years ago. I play at least 3 times a week, and the lowest I've shut so far was an 80. In the past few months I've managed to stay in the low to mid 80s consistently, and I'm quite pleased scoring like this. However, I've recently run into an extremely bad problem, and it's almost as bad as the Tin Cup shanks. Over the past week when I've attempted to hit my irons, and upon striking, the ball catches the hozzle of the club and takes off immediately right. It's identical to that video of Hunter Mahan shanking a 130 yd wedge shot. I wouldn't mind this problem happening once in a blue moon, but recently this happens literally EVERY time I try to hit my irons, any one of them. This never happens on my woods, and I'm able to hit those consistently right now. My only cure for this iron shanking problem, is to stand completely open stance just like Bubba would hitting his drive, then take a swing. What happens when I do this, is when I strike the ball with that stance, the ball takes the normal flight path of someone standing parallel to the ball. In other words, when I turn my body to 10 o'clock and take a swing, the ball then goes straight... extremely weird. Anyways, I've watched a few videos, tried the drill where you set 2 balls up and line up the top one then try to hit the bottom one, it's worked maybe 2 out of 10 times attempted. I'm at a loss currently, if you have any idea of something that could even get me to %50 hitting with irons, that I could eventually improve over time, that would be great! I usually have a very pure strike with my irons, and right now I'm beyond scared to even try and hit a 100 yd approach shot, as I fear the ball is going to ricochet to the hole next to me that I already played, (lol).

I'm gonna guess, your probably swaying towards the ball.

Have you slightly changed your posture? Too upright so standing closer to the ball?

I've thought that it was standing too close to the ball, and I corrected that and still received the same result. My theory currently is that I'm on the swing plane in my backswing, and once I reach my maximum backswing I unconsciously shift my arms outward from the plane causing me to nail the ball right on that heel, I have a swing posted in the my swings section, let me know if you can see what I'm talking about, it's a bit easier to see in the 5 iron shot. I'll have some better videos tomorrow, thanks for the reply!

That was my problem a few months ago. Keep your right arm close to your body on the down swing, i.e. in the slot. Also, stay in your posture..
