Playing Again after all these years

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have recently retired and am 70. I hav eplayed about 10 times in the last 20 years and am looking forward to beating the ball once again. Need some help with club choices, as I'm an old fart now and have lost a lot over the years. I still have my original 2-PW Lynx irons, a 3 & 5 Hybrids that I piced up several years ago, and a TiTlest 975 driver with a 11.5 loft. I played 2 years ago,felt like I was hitting rocks,a wicked slice, and shot a 105 from the back tees.Your help and comments will be appreciated.

There are alot of good players who use hybrids, they make the game easier.

Move up a set of tees and you will have a lot more fun.

Two schools of thought:

Get fitted for a higher lofted driver (12-14*) with a shaft around 44". Pick up a fairway wood in the 18-20* range, "forgiving" irons probably 4 or 5 through PW, a couple of additional wedges, and 2 or 3 hybrids around 20, 24, and 28 +/-.

Do like some others and me and go retro. (see my sig) It is cheap and fun and golf like in your younger days. Pick an appropriate set of tees and play for the enjoyment. Softer modern balls like the Titleist DT Solo or Wilson Duo work fine with the old stuff.

I still keep some more modern stuff around for the odd scramble, but this past season played about 90% of my golf with vintage equipment.

I don't know your swing speed but regardless I highly recommend you get graphite shafts on everything. The SW and Lob wedge can be steel. I just switched to graphite about two years ago and really noticed that it was a lot easier to hit the ball which makes you swing much more smoothly IMO.
