Lob wedge...too much bounce?

So I have a 58* lob wedge with 10 degrees of bounce. This past season I played it at 57* but found myself wanting some more loft without having to open the face. I also had a 5* gap between my wedges and found that to be a bit too close since I really like choking up on my p-lw anyway.

So I want to bend my lob wedge to 59* to get a 6* and have some more loft when needed. But I play course with quite a few tight lies and I am afraid 11* of bounce would be a bit much for those tight lies.

What do you guys all think about a 59* wedge with 11* of bounce when most of my shots are from tight lies?

You might talk to a clubfitter about this. For a finesse shot like the LW, I sense your attack angle (steep, medium or shallow) might trump local turf conditions.

Sole grind + shot setup also would be a big consideration. The new custom wedge maker Hopkins compares sole grind and effect on bounce:

For example, a wedge with a heel grind will play with medium bounce
when hit squarely. When that same wedge is played with an open face, the effective
bounce is reduced due to the grind. A wedge with
no custom grind will also
play with medium bounce when hit squarely but when opened,
the effective bounce actually increases.

Maybe seasonal LWs? A couple of years ago, I went to the range in early November. A golfer there was hitting a Cleveland CG12 LW in 60*/4. He led me hit some shots with it, and it worked nicely in the short, scraggly early winter turf. He said he used the 60*/4 from late fall through winter, and switched to a 60*/10 (or some higher bounce) in warmer weather.

I'd keep that much bounce in my SW and save the LW at less bounce.

For example, my TM wedges are SW 55.11 and LW 60.08 - this allows for more options regarding tight or fluffy lies and the need for a flop shot from a bunker or rough. One club with more bounce, one with less... does that make any sense?

Lately, I've shelved those and just carry a Vokey SM4 54.08 - square for a tight lie, open for the flop. Great club BTW.

WUtiger - I would say I have a fairly shallow angle of attack since I hardly take any divot at all. My current wedges have a heal and toe grind but I feel that when I open them I have a tendency to blade/scald the shot. Thats why I want a lot of loft with the face square however I'm afraid too much bounce might cause blade/scald shots on tight lies. Don't really think I'm in the market for seasonal wedges.

Tat14 - I would love to have a sand wedge and LW but I don't really want to spend the money on new wedges. I have some pretty good wedges currently and I just want to mess with the lofts if possible.

I also have a weird thing about my wedges all being the same model (makes me more confident in the sets consistency). Therefore I don't want to buy just a random sand or lob wedge.

Thanks for the ideas so far

There's way, way more to "bounce" than your AoA.

You can have a 0° AoA with the handle leaning WELL forward, for example.

I typically don't think it's a good idea to go low bounce off tight lies. You can use the bounce to help the club "glide" off tight lies. The margin of error is a lot larger.

I have thought that it may be helpful too. But what about bladed/scalded shots? I feel the bounce may make the leading edge of the club face too high and lead to scalds if the club "bounces" into the ball if i hit it a bit fat. I think in most situations i would rather have a chunk than a scald.

You can have a medium to high bounce wedge with the leading edge still flush to the ground, just depends on the grind. I'm sure your wedge at 10* is fine. The reason you're blading it is probably more technique. If you have a swing thread, post yourself hitting some pitch shots.

Has anyone tried one of those multi bounce wedges? The claim is that one wedge can be used for tight lies, rough, and sand shots. Some where I have a Solius multi bounce wedge. Never really gave it an honest try out, so I don't know if they work.

I recently got a Vokey 50 * with 12* of bounce, it has an F grind on it. Even hitting off a mat, it's smooth as butter, whether the face is open, or squared.
