So I'm Mark and I am currently living in Al Ain, UAE although originally from Ireland (where I'm headed back in the summer).

Golf has always been a part of my family but I didn't start playing until last spring right after I turned 30.  I started out on the academy par 3 at my local club here and really enjoyed it.  For Christmas there my wife bought me gift vouchers for the golf club so I could put them towards lessons.  Started in on the lesson package 2 weeks ago, took 5 lessons followed by a playing lesson/assessment this week.

So far I've played a total of 36 holes on the main course, front 9 with scores of 68 for first time, 50 for 2nd with 3rd being unscored, most recent was the back 9 where I hit 56.

I started playing golf as a way to get out of the house and away from the computer, but these last 2 weeks have shown me that I really enjoy the game and am now constantly looking forwards to when I can get out next.

Hey Mark, welcome to the sand trap. Al-Ain is a nice place.. What's the course you are playing there? Is it right in the complex your living in? UAE is the best out of all the gulf countries in terms of golf courses, equipment and even training! I'm over next door in KSA, and we pretty much have nothing :)

I think the Sand course shutting down is probably a good thing.. I think your a couple hours from Dubai right.. I'm sure you'll find the time to go play a course or two at least once.. Very nice indeed! Anyway, welcome aboard, a lot of good stuff here just look around for things that interest you and you will find it!
